GREENWOOD – Adam Love lined a bases-clearing triple off the blue concrete of the right field wall to give Lander its first lead in the fifth inning, and Connor Droze hit his 50th career home run for insurance as the Lander baseball team claimed its first Peach Belt Conference Tournament title since 2014 with an 8-3 win over Columbus State on Friday afternoon at Dolny Stadium.

The tournament title is Lander’s second-ever conference tournament crown and its fifth overall Peach Belt title when including regular-season championships (2014, 2024, 2025).

With the win, Lander (42-13) secured the Peach Belt’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional—its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2016. Of the Bearcats’ three previous trips, two ended in Cary, N.C., at the Division II Baseball Championship.

The 42 wins are the third most in program history, and the Bearcats finished 26-3 at Dolny Stadium this season—the best home record since the 2014 squad went 27-4.

Columbus State (30-23) scored three runs across the first three innings, including two in the third after a two-out error extended the inning. Lander’s lone early response came in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Will McClellan.

The Bearcats trimmed the deficit to 3-2 in the third as Taichi Nakao scored on a wild pitch during a walk to Droze. Then in the fifth, with two outs and the bases loaded after a Sherrod walk and singles by Droze and Garrett Chun, Love launched a deep drive that hit high off the blue wall in right field—just out of reach of the fielder—to clear the bases and give Lander a 5-3 lead.

A shutdown inning in the sixth by starter Jagger Jefferis (7-3) capped a gritty outing: six innings, five hits, one earned run. Kurt Rogers came on in the seventh and overcame some control issues to post a scoreless frame.

Then, in the bottom of the seventh, more Dolny Magic occurred. In what could be his final at-bat at Dolny Stadium, Droze delivered one for the history books—a towering three-run home run to right field, the 50th of his career, and became the first Lander player ever to reach the 50 home run mark. The homer sent a Dolny Stadium crowd of 323 into a frenzy as the Bearcats extended their lead to 8-3. Droze later earned PBC Tournament Most Valuable Player honors.

Columbus State threatened in the eighth, but Rogers stranded two runners. Tyler Bowen then pitched a 1-2-3 ninth, sealing the win and sparking a long-awaited dogpile on the infield.

The NCAA Southeast Regional bracket will be revealed Sunday at 10:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.

HUTCHINSON and WILLMAR, MN – Ridgewater College is introducing a new eSports activity on the Hutchinson campus.

Launching this fall, school officials say the eSports club will give students the opportunity to join competitive gaming teams, participate in tournaments, and develop skills in game strategy, teamwork, and digital media in a newly created gaming lounge.

eSports will run as a “club sport”, similar to Ridgewater’s Clay Target teams.

The only eligibility requirement is to be enrolled as a part- or full-time student at Ridgewater.

Last year, Heidi Olson, Ridgewater Dean of Students, proposed the program to expand student life opportunities for students on the Hutchinson campus. The Hutchinson campus does not have a gymnasium like the Willmar campus, and thus doesn’t host sports like volleyball, basketball and wrestling.

“This is an activity that has grown in recent years,” Olson said.  This school year, more than 100 Minnesota high schools and 2,000 Minnesota high school students participated in eSports clubs and teams.

Ridgewater Nondestructive Testing Technology instructor Sheldon Mackinnon has been hired to coach and launch the new program.

DAHLONEGA – University of North Georgia (UNG) baseball junior center fielder Andrews Opata was named a Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Third Team All-American.  Lander’s Grant Sherrod was named honorable mention.

Opata earned the first all-American honor of his career Wednesday. The superstar center fielder has now added all-american status to his Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference honors along with thrice being named First Team All-Region by the D2CCA, National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).

Opata finished the regular season ranked fifth nationally in runs (87) and hits (96). Both marks rank as the third-most single season totals in program history in their respective categories. He also ended the year ranked ninth in NCAA Division II in stolen bases with 42 swipes on the year, which ranks as the second-most in a single season in program history.

A hitting machine with a regular-season batting average of .380, Opata led the team with 31 multi-hit games this year. A menace for opposing pitchers, the Lawrenceville, Ga. native also ranked second on the team in on-base percentage (.450) and slugging (.574).

Opata had 15 multi-RBI games this season which also ranked second on the team. His 62 RBIs ranked among the top 65 hitters nationally.

The center fielder smacked a career-high 11 home runs in 2025 as well.

Opata became the third D2CCA All-American in program history and the first since Crews Taylor in 2022 with Wednesday’s honor.

Despite officially cutting ties with Puma, Virat Kohli remains very much in the spotlight for the sportwear brand’s latest digital campaign, RCB Shotline.

The ad, which features a fictional hotline manned by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) stars, including Kohli himself, has left us amused – and a little puzzled.

Kohli’s appearance in the campaign comes weeks after the end of his landmark Rs 110 crore deal with Puma, one that not only elevated his profile but also helped reshape sports marketing in India.

The partnership saw the launch of the One8 line, co-branded lifestyle wear that became a mainstay in Puma’s India strategy. Kohli is now backing Agilitas Sports, an Indian athleisure startup, suggesting his brand loyalties have shifted.

Yet there he is – still fielding calls in a Puma campaign.

In RCB Shotline, Kohli picks up the phone to find Usain Bolt on the other end, only to be cut off mid-sentence. “Typical! I guess he does everything in record time,” he deadpans.

From there, the campaign devolves into playful banter with stars like PV Sindhu, Jack Grealish, and RCB teammates Rajat Patidar and Krunal Pandya, all dialing into the chaotic fan hotline.

So why is Kohli still in the ad?

It’s likely the campaign was shot before the formal end of his contract – a common occurrence in brand partnerships with long production timelines. His presence may also be contractually tied to legacy deals, particularly around the RCB franchise, which has a long-standing association with Puma.

Puma acknowledged Kohli’s departure with a warm sign-off, calling it “an outstanding journey filled with memorable campaigns and collaborations.”

The brand has signalled a renewed focus on supporting emerging talent, but the overlap in this campaign reminds us how closely sport, branding, and timing are entwined.

Football video game fans have been waiting for this moment for months as the new EA Sports College Football 26 has new details.

On Thursday, the reveal trailers were released on YouTube at 10:00 a.m. EST, showing one minute and 48 seconds of what the game will look like. The trailer featured footage of high school football, some college football environments, and the blistering sound of “Enter the Sandman” by Metallica playing throughout.

The EA Sports College Football 26 website has been updated to include new information about what will be included in key game modes, such as Road to Glory and Dynasty mode. Here is everything gamers need to know about the upcoming release:

Gameplay is set to see improvements in both offensive and defensive mechanics, featuring new stunts and twists. Over 2,700 new plays were added, featuring more than 10,000 players in the game.

AI has been improved in the game, which will include dynamic play-calling adjustments. It will also have enhanced blocking and coverage. There are new features that include “Dynamic Substitutions,” and custom zones are available, giving players more control over what’s happening on the field.

Gamers will be able to play against any of the 136 FBS schools available for selection. Each school will have a unique experience on gameday. One of the most significant additions is Virginia Tech’s pregame tradition of playing “Enter the Sandman” by Metallica, which was showcased in the trailer. Some of the real-life traditions within the game include saddling up in Stillwater, bringing home the Golden Egg, or crowning the King of Turnovers with Coastal Carolina’s sword.

Road to Glory is getting a massive facelift that will make gamers even more excited to be part of the franchise’s most beloved mode. Players will have the ability to start their journey at the high school level. Throughout the gamers’ time in high school, the player they created will rise in the class rankings and begin to get scholarship offers. Gamers can either commit early or change their minds and pick another school.

While in college, players will have to earn the coach’s trust, build chemistry with his teammates, and potentially hit the portal. This is all for the chance to win the Heisman Trophy and set up the player to be drafted in Madden 26.

Dynasty mode also features some more in-depth aspects of the game that will make gamers more strategic in their recruiting. There are new location-based visits that can give the school players a competitive advantage by being closer to their homes. There are also new Dynamic Deal Breakers and Traits that will help gamers retain their favorite playmakers and set the school up for success.

One of the most significant new additions to the game is the ability to control and see real-life coaches on the field. Last year’s edition did not have any of the coaches people see in real life in the game.

Over 300 coaches have been added to the game, including Ohio State head coach Ryan Day, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart, and Oregon head coach Dan Lanning. Each coach will have a specific play-calling style that matches what they do in real life. The promises to make it the most authentic college football experience ever.

MVP Bundle ($149.99)

Deluxe Edition ($99.99)

Standard Edition ($69.99)

The most significant additions to the game have been made to the staple game modes of Road to Glory and Dynasty mode, which will undoubtedly excite gamers. Updating gameplay mechanics on offense and defense will make the play of the field smoother than it was last year, despite that being praised. Online play will only get better, and tournaments are expected to be released soon, putting this game ahead of where it was last year.

All this together means a greater level of skill expression for tournamnet-level players. The pre-order bonuses also will give aspiring competitors a leg up in building their teams, so choosing the best bang for your buck will be a crucial decision.

In 2025, digital marketing on online entertainment platforms is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by technological advancements and evolving consumer behaviors. As audiences increasingly seek personalized, engaging, and interactive content, marketers are adapting their strategies to meet these demands. This article explores the top digital marketing trends shaping the online entertainment landscape in 2025.

Mobile Gaming as a Digital Marketing Powerhouse

Mobile gaming has become a major force in digital marketing, offering direct access to massive, highly engaged audiences. Brands are embedding ads, sponsorships, and interactive content into games, turning playtime into immersive marketing moments. Formats like rewarded videos and branded in-game items are especially effective at boosting engagement and conversions.

This mobile-first momentum isn’t limited to traditional games, online casinos are also adapting, mirroring mobile gaming mechanics to enhance user engagement and retention. Many top online casinos on this list of non Gamstop casinos compete in a highly competitive market, with many of them offering similarly enticing perks: seamless mobile experiences, thousands of gaming options, fast payouts, flexible payment methods, and generous bonuses.

These sites also rely on digital marketing tactics such as SEO optimisation, affiliate marketing, and paid click ads to stand out and attract new visitors. As mobile gaming continues to blur the line between entertainment and advertising, it offers a seamless way for brands to connect with users where they spend the most time, on their phones.

The Rise of Short-Form Video Content

Short-form video content continues to dominate online entertainment platforms. Platforms like YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and TikTok have become central to content consumption, particularly among younger audiences. These bite-sized videos offer quick, engaging snippets that cater to the fast-paced attention spans of modern viewers. Brands are leveraging this trend by creating concise, impactful content that resonates with their target demographics. The virality potential of short-form videos also provides opportunities for rapid brand exposure and audience growth.

Integration of Social Commerce

Social commerce is revolutionizing the way consumers interact with brands on entertainment platforms. By seamlessly integrating shopping experiences into social media, platforms enable users to discover and purchase products without leaving the app. This trend is particularly evident on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, where influencers and brands collaborate to showcase products through engaging content. The convenience and immediacy of social commerce enhance the consumer journey, driving higher conversion rates and fostering brand loyalty.

Personalized Content Through AI and Data Analytics

Artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics are empowering marketers to deliver highly personalized content experiences. By analyzing user behavior, preferences, and engagement patterns, brands can tailor content to individual users, increasing relevance and engagement. AI-driven algorithms also assist in content creation, optimizing headlines, visuals, and messaging to align with audience interests. This level of personalization enhances user satisfaction and encourages prolonged interaction with the platform.

Emphasis on Authenticity and User-Generated Content

Authenticity has become a cornerstone of effective digital marketing. Consumers are increasingly drawn to genuine, relatable content, often created by other users. User-generated content (UGC) not only fosters community engagement but also serves as powerful social proof for brands. Encouraging users to share their experiences and perspectives creates a sense of trust and credibility. Brands are harnessing UGC by featuring customer testimonials, reviews, and creative contributions in their marketing strategies.

Expansion of Influencer Marketing

Influencer marketing continues to evolve, with a focus on micro and nano influencers who boast highly engaged niche audiences. These influencers offer brands access to specific demographics with authentic endorsements. Collaborations with influencers are becoming more strategic, involving long-term partnerships and co-created content. This approach ensures consistent brand messaging and deeper audience connections.

Interactive and Immersive Experiences

Interactive content, such as polls, quizzes, and live streams, is gaining traction as a means to engage audiences actively. Immersive technologies like augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) are also being integrated into marketing campaigns, offering unique and memorable experiences. These technologies allow users to interact with products and services in a virtual environment, enhancing understanding and interest. Such experiences not only captivate audiences but also provide valuable insights into consumer preferences and behaviors.

Conclusion

The digital marketing landscape on online entertainment platforms in 2025 is characterized by innovation, personalization, and platform-specific strategies. Brands that embrace short-form content, integrate social commerce, leverage AI for personalization, and tap into mobile gaming’s marketing potential are poised to lead the space. By staying attuned to these trends and crafting content that aligns with evolving user habits, marketers can build lasting connections with their audiences and drive meaningful business outcomes in this dynamic and competitive arena.
