SEVEN TIME AT TEXAS: LEGACY MC co-owner Jimmie Johnson holds multiple records at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS), including the most wins (seven), most runner-up finishes (five), the most top-five finishes (16), and a total of 1,152 laps led. Victory Lane in Texas is titled “Jimmie Johnson Winner’s Circle” after the seven-time champion.
KENSETH AT TEXAS: CLUB Competition Advisor Matt Kenseth also has a stellar record at Texas Motor Speedway. He won two times in the NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) and has three top-five finishes and five top-10 finishes at the track. He secured a pole position for the 2009 race.
NEVER SETTLE: ESPN’s Marty Smith and Johnson team up for their weekly podcast, Never Settle. The podcast airs live on SIRIUS XM NASCAR Radio Ch. 90 at 2 p.m. ET every Wednesday and can be downloaded wherever fans source their podcasts.
JOHN HUNTER NEMECHEK
NO. 42 DOLLAR TREE TOYOTA CAMRY XSE
JHN AT TMS: Texas Motor Speedway holds a special place for Nemechek, as it was the site of his first NCS start. This weekend, he returns to TMS for his fifth NASCAR Cup Series appearance at the track, where he holds an average finish of 24th over his previous four starts.
In the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS), Nemechek has an impressive record at TMS, with six starts resulting in two wins (2021 and 2023), four top-five finishes, and five top-10s. The North Carolina native also found success in the NASCAR Truck Series, capturing a victory at the speedway in 2021.
T-MACK AT TMS: The 42-year-old crew chief, Mack, has five NCS starts at the Fort Worth speedway. Of those starts, he has two top-10s.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!: Race day, May 4, front-tire changer on the No. 42 LEGACY MOTOR CLUB team, Scott Brzozowski, will be celebrating a birthday!
QUOTING JOHN HUNTER NEMECHEK:
“I feel like Texas Motor Speedway is kind of a wildcard when it comes to mile-and-a-half tracks, just because of how different both ends of the track are. Turns 1 and 2 are relatively flat, while Turns 3 and 4 are more high-banked and allow for more speed through the corner.
At LEGACY MOTOR CLUB, I think our mile-and-a-half program has improved this year. We’re continuing to make progress, and hopefully that momentum carries into these next few races.”
QUOTING TRAVIS MACK:
“We’ve been building off our performances at Vegas, Homestead, and Darlington as we head into Texas this weekend with the No. 42 Dollar Tree Toyota Camry XSE. Each race has given us more to work with, and we’re focused on continuing to learn and improve our mile-and-a-half program. The goal is to take what we gain here and carry that momentum into Kansas and Charlotte.”
ERIK JONES
NO. 43 ADVENTHEALTH TOYOTA CAMRY XSE
300 CUP SERIES STARTS: This weekend will mark the 28-year-old Erik Jones’ 300th NASCAR Cup Series start. His first start came filling in for Kyle Busch on May 9, 2015, when Jones was 18. Texas Motor Speedway is actually the site of Jones’ second Cup Series start on Nov. 8, 2015, where he started sixth and finished 12th in the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Toyota. LEGACY MC’s co-owner, Johnson, won that race in Texas. Throughout his 299 starts, Jones won three times – twice in the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway and once at Daytona International Speedway in the 400-mile event. Additionally, his resume has 38 top-five, 90 top 10, and two pole positions.
JONES AT TMS: Jones has 13 total starts at the Fort Worth, Texas, 1.5-mile quad-oval. He has three top-five finishes and seven top 10s in his NCS career at TMS.
YOUNG GUNS 300 CLUB: Although Joey Logano was the youngest Cup driver to make it to 300 starts at age 26, followed by Kyle Busch at age 27. Jones joins a three-way tie with Chase Elliott and Richard Petty for those drivers who made their 300th start at age 28 in the Series.
BESHORE AT TMS: Crew chief Ben Beshore has two Cup Series starts at Texas Motor Speedway — one with Kyle Busch and one with John Hunter Nemechek. In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Beshore has five starts as a crew chief at TMS, earning three victories with three different drivers: Kyle Busch (2019), Harrison Burton (2020), and John Hunter Nemechek (2023).
RIDE ALONG: Fans can ride along with the No. 43 and Erik Jones as he carries onboard cameras sponsored by AdventHealth, giving the fan multiple viewpoints of the 28-year-old driver as he navigates Texas Motor Speedway this weekend.
QUOTING ERIK JONES:
“Texas has been a place I’ve really enjoyed. Before and after the reconfiguration. I’ve won a handful of races there, both in Xfinity and Truck, and look forward to hopefully running well and up front in the No. 43 Advent Health Toyota Camry for my 300th start. It’s a place we have had some strong runs at, a place I have a good feel for and am comfortable at, and always look forward to it on the schedule.”
QUOTING BEN BESHORE:
“We’ve had some decent speed at a few of the intermediate tracks this year, and we’re confident we can combine everything we’ve learned to put a strong package under [Jones] this weekend. What we take away from Texas should help us build toward better results at Kansas and Charlotte as well.”
CLUB APPEARANCES
On Saturday afternoon in Mansfield, Texas, Jones will make an appearance on behalf of AdventHealth and Texas Health, promoting the new clinic in this location. This community event will feature a short question-and-answer session with Jones and some photo opportunities.
Later Saturday at 8:30 p.m. (Local time), Jones will go out to the Lonestar Circle Campgrounds and partake in some dueling piano fun.
On race day morning, Nemechek will visit the NASCAR Classics merchandise hauler and connect with fans and sign some autographs. The appearance on Sunday will start at 10:30 a.m. (Local Time).
TUNE IN:
The Würth 400 at Texas Motor Speedway will take place on Sunday, May 4th, at 3:30 p.m. ET. The race will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1, MAX, PRN, and SiriusXM – NASCAR Radio (Channel 90).

Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta are against MotoGP’s anti-highside software

Top MotoGP riders Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta have both hit out at the stability control system being introduced at this weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix.
MotoGP announced earlier this week that the new software, which “reduces engine torque if/when the bike slides”, would be rolled out at the Red Bull Ring.
While teams are not obliged to use the system, there will effectively be no option if it provides a competitive advantage.
Given that the series is banning ride height and holeshot devices from 2027, as well as reducing the impact of aerodynamics with that year’s new regulations, the stability control system flies in the face of the narrative that ‘rider aids’ are being phased out.
The official line is that the system is a safety measure designed to reduce the number of dangerous highside crashes.
In Thursday’s press conference ahead of the Austrian race, however, Marquez – victim of many highsides in his career, including the 2020 one that nearly ended it – voiced his opposition to the concept.
“For me, it’s clear: the more things you introduce on the bike – in this case electronics – the less difference the rider can make.

Marc Marquez, Ducati Team

“I tested this new control at Aragon and also in the Malaysia test… and it’s just easier to ride,” continued Ducati’s championship leader. “You can be [pushing] against the control and the bike is doing everything. So, as a rider, I don’t like it. [Whether it’s for] safety or not.
“In the end, every manufacturer has a different point of view.”
Acosta, who, along with Marquez, is considered one of the more naturally talented riders on the grid, took a similar view.
“Every time we are introducing [another aid], I think we have to go the other way around,” said the Spanish KTM rider.
“Try to remove it, like we see in the new regulations for 2027, [when] we start to take out the [ride height] device and all these things. I think we have to start to think about taking out these aids that we have on the bike.”
Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi, however, believes that the cream will always rise to the top despite the fears that such aids will level the playing field.

“Of course, as Marc said, the rider can make a little bit less difference,” said the Italian. “This is not the best. But in the end, when everyone [gets on] top of the setting of everything, then the rider will make the difference again. So, it’s a matter of time.”
While Marquez and Acosta’s objection hinges on the very principle of the system, the exact benefits or impact of the new software are yet to be fully understood. Riders have tried versions of it at group tests earlier in the season, but few had strong opinions on its ultimate efficacy ahead of track action starting on Friday morning.
According to MotoGP’s release, the system is “slightly different to traction control, which instead reacts to the tyre spinning.”

RICHMOND, Va. – NASCAR Cup Series cars took to the track at Richmond Raceway for the first time on Friday night, turning practice laps followed by a qualifying session that set the starting lineup for Saturday night’s race.
Chase Elliott turned in a lap of 22.361 seconds to qualify fifth, best among the Hendrick Motorsports contingent. Alex Bowman was also solid, recording a time of 22.397 seconds to nab the ninth starting spot. William Byron will start 14th after a lap of 22.461 and Kyle Larson will start 30th.
Qualifying took place after a 50-minute, split qualifying sessions with two groups each getting 25 minutes. Larson turned in the sixth-best individual lap at 22.986 seconds.
Larson has scored a pair of wins at Richmond in his career including the last for Hendrick Motorsports, which came in 2023. Alex Bowman also has a victory at the 0.75-mile D-shaped oval, winning in 2021.
Saturday’s event is the penultimate race of the regular season. Currently, Byron holds a 42-point advantage over Elliott atop the NASCAR Cup Series points standings. Bowman is 15th in the playoff standings, still 60 markers above the elimination line.
Here’s how the field will line up for Saturday night’s race at Richmond Raceway:

On August 15 (local time) at “The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering” Chevrolet announced the Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo Concept, a racecar concept that pays homage to the role motorsports has played in Corvette’s nearly 75 year history, and hints at what future Corvette track vehicles may look like. The CX.R Vision Gran Turismo Concept debuted alongside the Corvette CX Concept. These two vehicles will inspire Corvette design language for years to come.
Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo Concept
The Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo Concept is a model made exclusively for the track.
The aerodynamics of this car started with the CX design and amped up the aggression, with more prominent active aerofeatures and a lower ride height for downforce and grip. CX.R employs light-weight materials, including carbon fiber, to keep total mass as low as possible.
It is powered by a hybrid system utilizing 2 electric motors up front and one motor in the rear, combined with compact a high revving V8 twin turbocharged engine (using E Fuel). This unit ensures driving performance and range required in endurance racing, plus incorporates a thrilling sound.
The interior is also specialized for circuit use, with the seat shaped to support the driver’s head and neck when exposed to strong horizontal G’s in the corners. The steering wheel has strategically placed physical buttons and knobs so that they can be used intuitively even while wearing racing gloves.
And of course the yellow and black coloring of the Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo Concept carries the tradition of Corvettes in GT car racing in the last 25 years.
Corvette CX Concept
The Corvette CX Concept hypercar will inspire future design language for Corvette.
Designed so that it can be enjoyed on the streets as well as on the track, it is both futuristic and recognizable as pure Corvette.
The CX has key Corvette design elements- a forward-lunging nose, a pronounced horizontal “chine” line delineating the upper and lower bodywork, and the dual-element tail lights. The proportions are long, low, and sleek, with a roofline less than 41 inches high.
On the engineering side, its aerodynamics and power unit are its key features. The car is equipped with an active aerodynamics system which balances efficiency on public roads as well as high performance on the track, but the real highlight is the fan downforce system. Utilizing technology of the near future, jet-aircraft-like thrust vectoring control maintains the front and rear aerodynamic balance.
The drivetrain is four wheel drive, incorporating the RESS system which integrates the power unit into the drive system, producing over 2000hp in total from 4 electric motors.
The Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo Concept and the Corvette CX Concept are both planned for inclusion in Gran Turismo 7.
Vision Gran Turismo is a project in which the world’s leading automotive brands design new sports cars for Gran Turismo players. For more information on Vision Gran Turismo, please visit the “Vision Gran Turismo” page on the official website.

NASCAR Cup team out at Richmond after worst finish of 2025
Katherine Legge has proven plenty of NASCAR fans wrong this year, specifically after her much-maligned Cup Series debut at Phoenix Raceway in March. Katherine Legge has proven plenty of NASCAR fans wrong this year, specifically after her much-maligned Cup Series debut at Phoenix Raceway in March.
She recorded Live Fast Motorsports’ best-ever finish in a road or street course race on the streets of Chicago in 19th place, and she went on to produce the team’s best-ever finish in a non-drafting superspeedway race, a 17th place finish at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, despite having not gained any additional Cup Series oval experience between her disastrous Phoenix debut and that race.
However, things did not go her way at Watkins Glen International, where she initially ran well before ultimately having to settle for 36th place, her worst finish in six starts – and the team’s worst finish in nine starts – this year.
Live Fast Motorsports, Katherine Legge out at Richmond
Legge had initially planned on competing this weekend at Richmond Raceway, but when the Brickyard 400 was added to her schedule, that was changed, and the B.J. McLeod-owned team opted not to field the No. 78 Chevrolet in the Cook Out 400 at all this weekend.
In fact, none of the four part-time non-chartered (open) cars that ran at Watkins Glen are back at the four-turn, 0.75-mile (1.207-kilometer) Richmond, Virginia short track. The others include the No. 44 NY Racing Team Chevrolet, the No. 66 Garage 66 Ford, and the No. 87 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet, which didn’t actually start the race at Watkins Glen following Connor Zilisch’s injury.
This weekend, the two part-time open cars on the entry list are the No. 33 Richard Childress Racing, which is set to be driven by Jesse Love, and the No. 67 23XI Racing Toyota, which is set to be driven by Corey Heim.
Despite being one of the popular picks to become the first non-Daytona 500 DNQ since 2018, it was Legge who memorably bumped Heim out of the Chicago race after Heim made a mistake in qualifying.
Saturday’s Cook Out 400 is set to be shown live on USA Network from Richmond Raceway beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET. Start a free trial of FuboTV today and be sure not to miss it!

NASCAR at Richmond predictions, lines, odds: 2025 Cook Out 400 picks from model that nailed 27 winners

After a win last week at Watkins Glen, Shane van Gisbergen joins Denny Hamlin as the only two drivers this season with four wins in the NASCAR Cup Series. However, van Gisbergen won’t see another road course (where he’s collected all his wins) until the Round of 12 in the 2025 NASCAR Playoffs and Hamlin will enter the 2025 Cook Out 400 on Saturday as a five-time winner at Richmond Raceway. Hamlin is the +400 favorite in the 2025 Cook Out 400 odds while van Gisbergen is a +25000 longshot. Hamlin’s teammate Christopher Bell is listed at +450 in the NASCAR at Richmond odds while current points leader William Byron is listed at +850.
The green flag will drop at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night, and the race is scheduled for 400 laps around the D-shaped oval that measures three-quarters of a mile that first appeared on the NASCAR schedule in 1953. Before entering any 2025 Cook Out 400 picks, be sure to see the latest 2025 NASCAR at Richmond predictions from SportsLine’s proven projection model.
Developed by daily Fantasy pro and SportsLine predictive data engineer Mike McClure, this proprietary NASCAR prediction model simulates every race 10,000 times, taking into account factors such as track history and recent results.
McClure’s model began the 2025 season by calling Chase Elliott’s win in the Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray for a +300 payout. Then it went on to predict Kyle Larson in Miami (+350), Christopher Bell’s NASCAR All-Star Race win (+600), Denny Hamlin’s win in Michigan (+650), Shane van Gisbergen’s win in Mexico City (+330), Elliott’s win in Atlanta (+1500) and van Gisbergen again in Chicago (+150), Sonoma (+125) and Watkins Glen (+135).
All told, the model has nailed nine winners this year and a whopping 27 winners since 2021. Top 2025 Cook Out 400 predictions
For Saturday’s 2025 Cook Out 400, the model is high on Chase Briscoe, even though he’s listed for as high as +1600 in the latest 2025 NASCAR at Richmond odds odds. He’s a target for anyone looking for a huge payday.
After making the NASCAR playoffs in two of the last three seasons for Stewart Haas Racing, Briscoe signed with Joe Gibbs Racing this offseason and he’ll make the postseason once again after scoring a win at Pocono. He’s eighth in the NASCAR standings entering the week and has been particularly strong over the last two months.
In addition to his win on the Tricky Triangle, Briscoe was the runner-up at Sonoma, Dover and Iowa and recorded another top-five last week at Watkins Glen. Find the best price at DraftKings, but also be sure check out the latest bet365 bonus code to get $150 in bonus bets after placing a $5 bet.
The model has also revealed a shocking NASCAR prop for this weekend: Kyle Busch finishes top 10 for a +135 payout. He’s a potentially a strong value pick for your Richmond NASCAR prop bets at FanDuel.
Busch is 102 points behind bubble boy Chris Buescher with only two races remaining in the regular season, so he’ll need a win to earn his way back into the NASCAR playoffs. He is, however, a six-time winner at Richmond Raceway and it’s the track that he’s arguably been the most consistent on throughout his career.
The 40-year-old has recorded 28 top-10 finishes in 38 career Cup starts there and also has six victories and 20 top-10 finishes in 23 career NASCAR Xfinity Series starts there.
