BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A season-best day for the Lehigh offense lifted the Mountain Hawks to a 13-10 win over Boston University Sunday at Leadership Park and a series win over the defending league champion Terriers. On a day in which Lehigh honored its five-member senior class, the four senior hitters: Rory Dudley, Lindsey Martin, Julia Mrochko and Maddy Schmeiser combined to go 9-for-17 with six runs scored and nine RBIs.

Dudley drove in six runs and gave Lehigh the lead for good with a three-run home run in a five-run fifth inning. Martin had a career day, going 4-for-5 and driving in a run with a sixth-inning triple.

Lehigh finished with 18 hits, with Schmeiser and first-year Kelly Fricker each contributing three. The Mountain Hawks improve to 25-22 overall and finish the Patriot League regular season at 13-5.

A wild, back-and-forth affair saw Boston University (31-17, 11-4 PL) take the lead on a sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning.

The Mountain Hawks answered with two in the bottom of the second on a pinch-hit, two-run single by junior Abbey Tabaka.

A home run by BU’s Kylie Doherty tied the game at 2-2 in the third and Tyesha Williams’ two-out single to left gave the Terriers a 3-2 lead.

Lehigh loaded the bases with nobody out in the fourth and after a strikeout, Dudley doubled up the alley in left center, plating three runs to put the Mountain Hawks up 5-3. Schmeiser followed with a sacrifice fly to put Lehigh up 6-3 after four innings.

A four-run fifth inning from Boston University put the Terriers back in front 7-6. Camryn Lyons delivered a key two-run single and Kieren McHugh’s pinch-hit single brought home the go-ahead run.

Dudley came up again with two on and one out in the bottom of the fifth and drilled a long three-run home run to left field, her fifth of the season, giving Lehigh a 9-7 advantage. A two-run single by junior Sydney Parlett put the Mountain Hawks up 11-7 after five.

BU pulled a run back in the sixth on two hits and a Lehigh error but the Mountain Hawks scored two in the home sixth on doubles by Fricker and Schmeiser and then Martin’s triple.

The Terriers refused to go quietly, scoring two runs in the top of the seventh and with the bases loaded, sophomore Maddy Clark got Sydney Pecoraro to line out to Mrochko at second base to end the game.

First-year Madison Finnerty picked up her 12th win allowing nine runs (eight earned) on 10 hits over six-plus innings. She walked three and struck out three. Clark got the final three outs to earn the save.

BU finished with 13 hits. Four Terriers saw time in the circle with Ava Johnson credited with the loss.

The Mountain Hawks will host Villanova in non-league action Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. and will close out the regular season with a doubleheader at Mount St. Mary’s next Saturday. Then, Lehigh will shift focus to the Patriot League Tournament May 8-10.
