Sophomore Norrah Lemongo broke the women’s shot put school record at the Penn State National Open, besting Amanda Walker’s 2005 top mark of 16.66-meters with a 16.77-meter event winning throw. Lemongo, a native of Yaoundé, Cameroon, ranks 2nd in the ACC and 27th in the NCAA in the event. Lemongo now has three event wins in the shot put and two in the weight throw this season.
PITTSBURGH – Track & Field’s Norrah Lemongo and Wrestling’s Dayton Pitzer were named PNC Achievers of the Week following a pair of strong performances.
No. 13 Dayton Pitzer closed out the match on Saturday against Duke with a 6-2 decision over No. 29 Connor Barket. Pitzer took the early lead with a takedown in the first period, but Barket worked his way back defensively with two escapes. Pitzer had a reversal early in the third period and earned a point for riding time to lead to the 6-2 victory. The Panthers defeated the Blue Devils in a dominant 42-0 victory as they won all 10 bouts, including racking up bonus points in seven matches.
