Lindenwood Claims 2024-25 OVC Institutional Academic Achievement Award; Winners of 18 Team Academic Achievement Awards Announced

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The winners of the 2024-25 Ohio Valley Conference Institutional and Team Academic Achievement Awards have been announced.

The overall Institutional Achievement award, presented annually to the member institution with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes that earn a 3.25 grade point average or higher for that academic year, was won by Lindenwood University, which had over 70 percent of its student-athletes earn the honor. It marks the first award for the institution that just completed its third year in the Conference.

The OVC Team Academic Achievement Awards, which are presented annually in each Conference-sponsored sport to the member institution’s team with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes who achieved a 3.25 grade point average or higher, were awarded in 18 sports.

In total, nine different member institutions garnered at least one team award with Lindenwood claiming five, followed closely by Morehead State and Southeast Missouri with three apiece. Southern Indiana and Tennessee State also earned multiple awards with two each. The team/institution honorees are:

 

Baseball: Lindenwood

Men’s Basketball: Southern Indiana

Women’s Basketball: Western Illinois

Beach Volleyball: Morehead State       

Men’s Cross Country: Eastern Illinois  

Women’s Cross Country: Southeast Missouri

Football: Lindenwood

Men’s Golf: Tennessee State

Women’s Golf: Little Rock & Tennessee State

Rifle: Morehead State

Men’s Soccer: Lindenwood      

Women’s Soccer: Lindenwood

Softball: Lindenwood

Men’s Tennis: Tennessee Tech

Women’s Tennis: Southeast Missouri

Men’s Track and Field: Southeast Missouri

Women’s Track and Field: Southern Indiana

Women’s Volleyball: Morehead State

The awards cap the announcements regarding 2024-25 academic year awards. It was previously announced that a record 1,792 OVC student-athletes were named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll (for having a 3.25 GPA or better) while 349 student-athletes achieved perfect 4.0 GPA’s to earn the OVC Academic Medal of Honor (the second-highest total in league history).
