GRANVILLE, Ohio — Wabash put five swimmers in “A” finals on the third night of the 2025 North Coast Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships. The Little Giants remain in third place in the team standings heading into Saturday’s final day of competition.
Ethan Johns provided the Little Giants’ best individual finish of the evening with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. The senior touched the wall for the final time in a personal-best time of 1:40.47. Quinn Sweeney also competed in the “A” final of the 200 free, earning a ninth-place finish with a time of 1:45.89. Daniel Streeter competed in the “B” final of the 200 free. He finished 14th overall with a time of 1:46.43.
Nicholas Plumb scored a seventh-place finish in the “A” final of the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 51.67. Barret Smith finished ninth in the “A” final with a time of 52.25. Nicholas Sommers earned the top finish in the “B” final of the 100 free, earning a tenth-place finish with a time of 52.85.
Brody Page swam to eighth place in the “A” final of the 100-yard butterfly, producing a personal-best time of 49.56. Connor Craig finished the “B” final in the 100 butterfly in 52.56 to capture 17th place. Xander Straw competed in the “C” final, posting a time of 53.60 after qualifying with a personal-best time of 53.25 in the morning prelims.
Ryan West was the top finisher in the “B” final of the 400-yard individual medley. He placed tenth overall with a time of 4:04.95. Dane Market finished in 16th place with a time of 4:20.06. He qualified for the finals with a personal best time of 4:18.04 in the morning session. William Renie added an 18th-place finish with a personal-best time of 4:21.94.
Justice Wenz finished 15th in the “B” final of the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.68. Cooper Kowalski placed 20th in the “C” final with a time of 1:00.44 after swimming a personal-best time of 1:00.13 in the morning prelims session.
Wabash closed the third night of the championships by finishing fifth in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Johns, Page, Sweeney, and Streeter turned in a season-best time of 1:24.10.
Wabash continued its hold on third place in the team scoring. The Little Giants finished Friday night with 727 points. Denison leads the men’s team standings with 1,287 points. Kenyon is in second place with 1,074 points. Oberlin sits in fourth place with 681 points, followed by Wooster (628 points), DePauw (590.5 points), Ohio Wesleyan (281 points), Hiram (264.5 points), and Wittenberg (241 points).
The 2025 championships conclude on Saturday, with the preliminary round starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Trumball Aquatics Center on the Denison University campus.
