The Vacaville High boy soccer team defeated West Park at home on Thursday night 2-0 to stay undefeated on the season.

Goals for the Bulldogs came from senior captain Freddy Brenes and sophomore Noah Norford. Brenes also had an assist.

“Probably the best match we have played all year,” Vacaville head coach Tony Bussard said. “When we let the ball do the work, opportunities arise. We played unselfish and patient. Great teams find ways to win these games.”

Bussard gave great to a nice night on defense by Colby Moore and Diego Peralta. He also gave credit to freshman Michael Brenes and Sophomore Braden Watkins.

Girls Basketball

Vacaville 54, Dixon 19

The Vacaville High girls basketball team defeated Dixon 54-19 on Thursday night.

The Bulldogs (4-4 overall) were led by Lula Kifle, who scored 19 points. Britain Gonzales had nine points, while Teagan Roser and Lucia Addiego each had six points.

Vacaville is at West Park on Dec. 27.

Vanden 60, Birmingham 58

Sierra Canyon 55, Vanden 33

The Vanden High girls basketball team lost to Sierra Canyon on Thursday 55-33, but rebounded nicely with a 60-58 win over Birmingham in the Tarkanian Tournament.

The Vikings are now 5-3 and play again Saturday, but their opponent is unknown as of press time.

Boys Basketball

Grant 66, Wood 33

Vallejo 68, Wood 57

The Will C. Wood boys basketball team lost two games on Thursday in the Davis Tournament, falling to Grant 66-33, while losing to Vallejo later 68-57.

In the game against Grant, Kimani Dokes led Wood with 17 points. Dokes later scored 15 in the loss to Vallejo.

“We are in a little funk right now and need to clear some things up in practice before our next game,” Wood head coach Mark Wudel said.

Vanden 64, Victory Christian Academy 57

The Vanden High boys basketball team defeated Victory Christian Academy 64-57 on Thursday.

The Vikings (3-3) were led by Chriseanie Nealy, who scored 19 points and had three assists. Nate Hibbert had 10 points and six rebounds, while Isiah Dixon had eight points and 10 rebounds.
