IMPERIAL VALLEY— As the local chapter of American Youth Football (AYF), the Desert Valley Youth Football and Cheer Conference (DVYFCC) concludes its 2025-26 regular season, post-season accolades and recognition are underway.
According to a news release by DVYFCC President Todd Evangelist, the local chapter logged champions in 10 age-based divisions composed of youth from Imperial Valley and eastern Riverside County.
As per the release, DVYFCC is made up of seven member associations: the Brawley Wildcats, Blythe Hornets, Coachella Lil Arabs, El Centro Spartans, FCA Sports (Bermuda Dunes), Holtville Vikings and 760 Elite (Imperial).
According to organizers, for the 2026 season DVYFCC fielded 10 divisions across both flag and tackle football. Flag football included the 7U division, along with the inaugural girls flag divisions (9U, 11U and 13U).
For tackle football, divisions included 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U and 13U. Each division completed regular-season play, conference playoffs and state championship competition. Four DVYFCC teams that earned state championships have now qualified to represent the region at the AYF National Championships in Naples, Florida, next month.
“The success of these teams shows the strength of youth sports in our region,” Evangelist said. “Our athletes, coaches and volunteers continue to make the Imperial Valley proud.”
