What’s Happening?

Our Motorsports, a six-year competitor in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, announced that it will “cease operations” following this weekend’s race at Dover Motor Speedway. This announcement follows the exit of driver Kris Wright after last weekend’s race at Sonoma.

Earlier this week, the team removed Wright, a 30-year-old driver in his first full-time season of competition, from this weekend’s entry list in exchange for 26-year-old Kaz Grala.

Wright later confirmed that the two had parted ways on mutual terms after what most would consider a tumultuous start to the season. But, in a stunning turn of events, rather than re-up with another driver, the team, which has nine top fives and 41 top tens through 278 total entries, announced that this weekend will be its last in NASCAR.

“Our Motorsports will cease operations in NASCAR racing moving forward. Thank you to NASCAR, Chevrolet, the fans, employees, and drivers, for a good ride over the last 6 years.”

Our Motorsports’ Six-Year Run in NASCAR

Our Motorsports made its NASCAR Xfinity Series debut in 2020 after racing in the ARCA Menards Series in the late 2010s. The team showed signs of speed early on with a rotating door of drivers and a majority of starts from Brett Moffitt.

Thanks to their hot start, fans expected them to be around NASCAR for years to come, but that would not be the case.

Over the next few seasons, the team gave full-time rides to drivers like Anthony Alfredo and Jeb Burton and maintained its rotation of part-time drivers. After downsizing to one car in 2023, the team made a major change in 2024, bringing back Alfredo, who left the team after 2022, and changing their No. 02 to the No. 5.

Kris Wright will reportedly not return to OUR Motorsports’ No. 5 entry following a mutual departure from the team.

Kris Wright’s 2026 Season

Despite Alfredo’s solid showing in 2024, scoring an average finish of 18.5, far better than that of Blaine Perkins, who made a majority of the team’s starts in 2023, the team announced in November that Kris Wright, a veteran journeyman driver, would take over the ride for 2025.

Fans questioned this decision, as Wright, a mostly unproven driver, was chosen over other options on the free agent market. As most fans predicted, this season has been a statistical 180 for the team prior to Wright’s departure.

Wright’s average finish through 18 races was 27.4, the worst among full-time drivers and worse than Alfredo’s average finish in his new ride at Young’s Motorsports. Wright also had some run-ins both online and at the track with DGM Racing’s Josh Bilicki, and may have cost JR Motorsports’ Justin Allgaier a win at Texas Motor Speedway.

A rough start to the season can stir up off-track drama for any driver. However, just three races into…
