With a shot Wednesday to clinch a state tournament berth, the Dennis-Yarmouth boys lacrosse team did not leave anything to chance.

Behind a stellar game from one of their top players, Colin Endres with 10 goals, the Dolphins earned an 18-7 win over Cape Cod Academy.

With the victory, the Dolphins (8-7) clinch a berth for their first state tournament appearance since 2015.

Cape Cod Academy drops to 0-9 with the defeat.

Apponequet 22, Bourne 8: The Canalmen (9-8) lost to end a two-game win streak. Ryan Haden (three goals), Charlie Sietz (three goals, two assists), Brady Banks (two goals, three assists), and Ty Hawkes (one assist) led the offense. Goalie Nolan Scofield made 17 saves.

Falmouth 12, Sandwich 3: The Clippers (13-4) beat the Blue Knights (8-9) for their third straight win.

Nantucket 16, Monomoy 1: The Whalers (10-4) beat the Sharks (11-7) for their second win in a row.

For the Sharks, Jake Giorgio had 30 saves in net, and Colin Valero had the lone Sharks goal.

St. John Paul II 11, Mashpee 8: The Lions (10-7) beat the Falcons (8-10) for their third straight victory. Taylor Richardson (four goals), Alex Morin (three goals, one assist), Jake Gargiulo (one goal, one assist), Braeden Shortt (one goal), Ollie Affonso (two goals, two assists), Parker Phillbrick (two assists), and Kelin McAleese (three assists) led the offense for the Lions.

For the Falcons, Jack Balfour (three goals), Maxx Smith (two goals, one assist), Mike Valois (two goals, one assist), Dominic Matteodo (three assists), and Dylan Chesley (one goal, two assists) powered the offense.

Girls Lacrosse 

Dighton-Rehoboth 16, Bourne 5: The Canalmen (5-11) lost for the third time in the last four games.

Nauset 11, Bishop Stang 9: The Warriors (11-5) won behind the strength of nine Julia Kipperman goals. Zoe Labdon and Sam Curley each scored one goal. Norah Swanson (five saves) and Maeve Kennally (seven saves) played well in net for the Warriors.

Softball

Monomoy 14, Bourne 2: The Sharks (18-1) topped the Canalmen (0-19) to bounce back from their first loss of the season Tuesday.

Michaela Muldoon went 1-for-3 with one RBI for the Canalmen.

Falmouth 7, Nantucket 5: The Clippers (10-8) beat the Whalers (5-12) for their fourth win in the last five games. For the Clippers, Ellie Bennett pitched seven innings, allowed four hits, and struck out six. Christina Femino had two hits, two walks, and four runs scored. The Clippers had one hit each from Azaria Viall (two RBIs), Molly Belfiore (one RBI, two runs), and Kaylee Shaw.

Carver 14, Mashpee 2: The Falcons (0-17) lost despite hits from Tess Provencher and Addison Losh. Rachel Fish and Losh scored the Mashpee runs.

South Shore 17, St. John Paul II 14: The Lions (5-13) lost for the fourth straight time.

East Bridgewater 11, Sandwich 6: The Blue Knights (11-9) lost for their second time in the last three games.

Sturgis 13, Barnstable 11: The Storm (12-5) beat the Red Hawks (4-15) in comeback fashion. Sturgis was down, 11-7, going into the bottom of the sixth inning. The Storm scored six runs to take the lead, then held Barnstable scoreless in the seventh for the win. 

Ryley Mayo (3-for-3, three runs, two walks, one triple), Molly Reino (two home runs, two runs), Cassidy Conway (two hits, two runs), Julianna Grygent (two hits, one run), Elsa Weisner (1-for-1, three runs, three walks), Bella Enos (one hit, one run, one walk), and Kaylee Koch (one hit, one run, one walk) paced the offense for Sturgis.

Baseball 

Sandwich 6, East Bridgewater 2: The Blue Knights (14-5) won to clinch a share of the South Shore League with a 9-3 league mark. Matt Taylor went seven innings with 10 strikeouts on the mound. Joe Coughlan went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a two-run home run. Drew Peters and James Lehane added two RBIs each. Carter Lodge provided a spark on the bases.

Dennis-Yarmouth 5, Mashpee 1: The Dolphins (9-10) topped the Falcons (7-14) to end a seven-game losing streak.

Fairhaven 4, Nauset 0: The Warriors (4-15) lost to end a two-game win streak.

Nantucket 6, Cape Tech 5: The Whalers (8-10) beat the Crusaders (7-10) for their third win in the last four games.

St. John Paul II 11, Carver 2: The Lions (18-2) won for the second straight time. Logan Our had the win, as he pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowed one earned run, with six strikeouts. Drew Richards was perfect for 2 1/3 innings, with three strikeouts. Xavien Suero went 2-for-3, with three RBIs. Domenic Toto recorded a multi-hit game, and Henry Roy notched two RBIs.

Monomoy 5, Bourne 2: The Sharks (13-6) beat the Canalmen (3-15) for the second time this season.

Girls Tennis 

Sandwich 3, East Bridgewater 2: The Blue Knights (9-10) won for the third time in the last four matches.

At second singles, Sandwich’s Senja Kravitz beat Olivia Connors (6-4, 6-1). At third singles, Sandwich’s Tenley Rothera beat Llewellyn Gaffney (6-0, 6-0).

At second doubles, Sandwich’s Izzie Bar and Quinlan Graff beat Haylie McPartlin and Sophie Sheehan (6-2, 6-2).

St. John Paul II 5, Barnstable 0: The Lions (20-1) topped the Red Hawks (1-15) for their 20th straight win.

At first singles, the Lions’ Lily Walker won (6-0, 6-0). At second singles, the Lions’ Grace Walker won (6-0, 6-0). At third singles, the Lions’ Sophia Martins won (6-0, 6-0).

At first doubles, the Lions’ Ava Cai and Kayla Katziff won (6-0, 6-2). At second doubles, the Lions’ Joey Duhamel and Emily Desruisseaux won (6-3, 6-1).

Boys Tennis 

Cape Cod Academy 4, Nantucket 1: The Seahawks (18-0) beat the Whalers (4-10) to complete their perfect season.

At second singles, Cape Cod Academy’s Ayden Naydenov beat Boyan Kalpazanov (7-5, 6-4). At third singles, Cape Cod Academy’s Garrett Wilson beat Knox Keating (6-0, 6-2). At first doubles, Cape Cod Academy’s Connor Hall and Declan Livingston beat Forbes Keating and Thomas Shroeder (0-6, 7-5, 6-3). At second doubles, Cape Cod Academy’s Henry Daigle and Rowan Lewison beat Sawyer Holland and Alec Angelov (6-3, 6-1).

At first singles, Nantucket’s Nik Krastev beat Ben Catalano (6-3, 2-6, 6-3).

Sandwich 3, Nauset 2: The Blue Knights (14-6) beat the Warriors (5-11) to end the regular season on a five-match win streak.

At first singles, Sandwich’s Andrew Emmel beat Lucas Wilson-Bevington (6-2, 6-1). At third singles, Sandwich’s Kallen Kestenbaum beat Lucas Patton (6-3, 6-3). At second doubles, Sandwich’s Andrew Morrison-Sheppard and Andrew Chanya beat Ronan O’Brien and Asher Woods (6-2, 4-6, 6-4).

At second singles, Nauset’s Will Murphy beat Joey LaScola (6-1, 6-3). At first doubles, Nauset’s Suren Jones Carlson and Wyatt Carroll beat Liam McLaughlin and Quinn Johnson (7-6, 7-6).

Boys Volleyball

Barnstable 3, Greater New Bedford 0: The Red Hawks (15-5) earned a sweep for their seventh straight victory.

Golf

Duxbury 228, Barnstable 269: The Red Hawks (9-4) lost for the third straight match.

CASPER — The best high school track and field athletes in Wyoming will converge at Harry Geldien Stadium in Casper this week for the 2025 State Track and Field Championships. The three-day meet begins Thursday, May 22, and includes athletes from Green River, Rock Springs, and Farson-Eden competing in a wide range of events.

Hosted by Kelly Walsh High School and the Wyoming High School Activities Association (WHSAA), the meet kicks off at 2:00 p.m. Thursday and runs through Saturday. However, changes have already been made to the event schedule due to expected weather concerns over the weekend.

Schedule Adjustments

Originally scheduled for Saturday morning, the 11:00 a.m. field events have been moved up nearly two full days. WHSAA announced the change on their website.

“Given the forecast, we are going to move the 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025, Field Events to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2025,” WHSAA stated. “We have made 1 adjustment to that which is the 4A Girls Long Jump and the 1A Boys Long Jump will move to the 6:00 p.m. Thursday time slot to allow those athletes that may be in both Long and Triple Jump to Long jump first. The 4A Girls Triple Jump and the 1A Boys Triple Jump will be on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.”

Event Logistics and Rules

Teams may begin setting up camp at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, with infield access limited to athletes in uniform. Bib numbers, which will be distributed at packet pickup, are required for both field access and competition.

Relay events will follow strict substitution rules. Pre-qualified relay teams must run the same athletes from regionals unless a top-four regional finish was earned. If an athlete is injured during the meet, they are barred from further participation, and their relay status is impacted.

Starting blocks will be pre-set and remain fixed throughout heats. Field event athletes are allowed one mark on the apron, with chalk prohibited unless weather conditions prompt an exception.

Starting heights for Pole Vault and High Jump have been standardized statewide for the meet, but may be adjusted by WHSAA officials based on weather or participation numbers.

Sheridan, Buffalo, Tongue River, Big Horn, Arvada-Clearmont and Kaycee are all in Casper competing for the outdoor track and field state championships.
