St. Louis police said shortly before 8 p.m., a 65-year-old man and his 3-year-old grandson were walking west on Shaw Boulevard when a silver sedan traveling south on South Vandeventer Avenue hit them.
ST. LOUIS — A man and toddler were injured Sunday night near the Missouri Botanical Garden when they were struck by a car while crossing the road, police said.
The driver of the car told police he stopped to let other pedestrians cross at the intersection but didn’t see the pair. The driver remained at the scene.
The injured man and boy were taken by ambulance to St. Louis hospitals. Police said the man was in critical condition while the boy was being evaluated for any injuries.
The annual Garden Glow event was taking place about two blocks away at MoBot until 9 p.m. Police said it appeared the man and his grandson were leaving when they were hit.
The driver of the car told police he stopped to let other pedestrians cross at the intersection but didn’t see the pair.
