Man headbutts his way into motorsports shop, steals motorcycle
CLAYTON, Mo. – A Fenton area man is due in court Friday after breaking into a motorsports shop over the weekend.
According to the St. Louis County Police Department’s probable cause statement, the break-in occurred on Sunday, Oct. 19 at St. Louis Powersports in the 900 block of South Highway Drive.
Police said security footage shows a man wearing a black helmet, black shirt, dark pants, and purple gloves walk up to the front of the store. The man headbutts the glass until it breaks, allowing him to enter the business.
The man goes behind the counter to access the cash till but didn’t take anything. He spent approximately 15 minutes in the store before pushing a gray motorcycle out through the front door.
Police said officers found the suspect, Morgan C. Abney, at a gas station nearby. He was wearing the purple gloves used by the person in the surveillance footage.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Abney with second-degree burglary and stealing a motor vehicle. Abner remains jailed on a $30,000 cash-only bond. After Friday’s bond reduction hearing, Abner has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Monday, Nov. 17.
