MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho Volleyball head coach Romana Redondo Kriskova faced a mountainous task last season when she and assistant Ben Kasun oversaw the entire volleyball team on their own, a team that generally requires three to five coaches to function properly.
This will be the case no longer as coach Redondo Kriskova has announced the hiring of Maria Jacobus, who will join the Vandals as an assistant coach.
Jacobus brings with her a pedigree of success coaching at the junior college level, having served as the head coach of nearby Wenatchee Valley College since 2022 and being with the team since 2020. The Knights, under Coach Maria, saw an unprecedented turnaround and level of success within the program, surging from four wins in her first year to twenty-two and twenty in the second and third, becoming playoff regulars as well.
The resumé that Jacobus brings to Moscow has the head coach extremely excited about what the Vandals can become.
“We are very thrilled to have Maria join the Vandal volleyball program,” stated Redondo Kriskova. “She will be a tremendous addition to the team with her contagious energy and enthusiasm. Maria’s values and standards align with ours and the culture that we are trying to build. We just added a great asset in recruiting and positional coaching to our staff!”
Jacobus echoed the sentiment of her head coach, seeing a bright future to come for Idaho volleyball.
“I am incredibly excited to be a part of the Vandal Family”, she said. “It has been a dream of mine to coach at a high level since I was young. I’m looking forward to working with Romana, Ben, the whole staff, and the team to help create an amazing culture and legacy that will be remembered for years to come. V’s up!”
