WATERVILLE, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington men’s outdoor track & field team captured the 2025 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship on Saturday at the Alfond Track on the campus of Colby College. The title marks the first NAC men’s outdoor track & field championship in program history.

The Beavers cruised to victory with 227 team points — 78 more than runner-up Thomas College, which finished with 149 points. UMaine-Farmington also won the women’s team title, becoming the first program to sweep the NAC outdoor championships since SUNY Delhi in 2019.

Husson University placed third with 89 points, followed by UMaine-Presque Isle (62 points), VTSU-Johnson (38 points), and Lesley University (20 points) to complete the six-team field.

UMaine-Farmington won nine events – including both relay races – en route to the dominant victory, as senior Justin Castaldo picked up a pair of wins (1500, 800) and sophomore Andrew LaFlamme posted two victories (3000-Meter Steeplechase, 5000). Nate Trussell (110-Meter Hurdles), Alex Crews (Shot Put), and Seamus Reeve (Pole Vault) also notched individual wins.

Thomas College was led by sophomore Nick Plamondon, who picked up wins in the 100-Meter and 200-Meter while senior Max Bojarski broke the only men’s record in this year’s championship with a 49.69m heave in the Hammer Throw. Sophomore Henry Phillips also won the Javelin Throw.

Husson University featured a pair of individual winners in freshmen Matthew Scamman (400-Hurdles) and Colin Simpson (Triple Jump) while VTSU-Johnson was led by junior Eli Wilson and sophomore Sabree Glover, who earned victories in the High Jump and 400-Meter, respectively.

UMaine-Presque Isle junior Xavier McAtee earned the NAC Discus Throw title with a 40.22m toss and Lesley University junior Hezekiah Brown paced the Long Jump field with a 6.54m distance.

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass.— The Babson College men registered eight top five finishes on the way to a fifth-place finish at the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) track & field championships Saturday afternoon at rainy Mount Holyoke College.

The Beavers finished in fifth place with 79 points, third most in program history and just one point shy of the 80 points they scored in 2023, and eight points behind fourth-place Coast Guard. WPI captured its second NEWMAC championship and first since 2021 with 241 points, MIT finished second with 196 points, and Springfield finished third with 125.

After taking the top three places in Friday night’s 10,000 meters, graduate student Anthony Rodriguez (Prairie View, Ill.), first-year Nick Yacoub (Sharon, Mass.) and junior Julian Ivarra (Plano, Texas) had solid finishes in the 5,000 meters on Saturday. Rodriguez brought home fourth place with a time on 15:09.08, Yacoub crossed the finish line in fifth place in 15:11.28, and Ivarra ran a season-best 15:44.63 to place 13th.

First-year Matthew Vilela (Framingham, Mass.) ended up in fourth place in the decathlon with 4,442 points after some strong performances on Saturday. He finished second with season-best showings in the discus (103-feet, 8-inches) and 1500 meters (5:21.53) and also took second in the javelin with a mark of 112-feet, 1-inch.

Sophomore Chris McDonough (North Andover, Mass.) turned in a fourth place finish in the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.71 seconds. First-years Dominic Smith (Aspen, Colo.) and Noa Wong (Kaneohe, Hawaii) came in sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 400 meters in times of 50.53 and 50.79, with Smith matching his season best.

Smith and Wong anchored the 4×400-meter relay team that was led off by classmates Jackson Adams (Norwell, Mass.) and Brian Ronayne (Reading, Mass.) and finished fourth in a season-best time of 3:26.97. Smith and Wong were also joined by classmates Patrick Allardi (Andover, Mass.) and Aithan Bezanson (Danvers, Mass.) for a fifth place in the 4×100-meter relay in a season-best time of 42.55 seconds.

The Beavers had solid finishers in the hurdle events, as Adams produced a fifth place in the 400-meter race in a time of 57.41 seconds, and sophomore Stratton Seymour (Merrimac, Mass.) finished in 11th in 59.70. Allardi crossed the line in eighth place in the 110 hurdles in 15.47 seconds.

Other Beavers who posted season-best times on the track included Ronayne in the 800 meters (1:59.87), Smith in the 200 meters (22.50), and sophomore Ethan Jina (Carlisle, Mass.) in the 1500 meters (4:16.23).

The top Beaver performances in field events included a fifth place in the discus by junior Joseph Addotta (Ridgefield, Conn.) with a career-best mark of 132-feet, 9-inches; a seventh place in the shot put by sophomore Coleman Hayes (New York, N.Y.) with a season-best mark of 42-feet, 6-inches; and a seventh place in the triple jump by sophomore Jordan Wright (Haworth, N.J.) with a season-best leap of 41-feet, 1.75-inches.

Babson will send its top performers to the Division III New England Championships next Friday and Saturday at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.

Cal To Face No. 2 USC In Sunday’s Third Place Game

LOS ANGELES – Sophomore Julia Bonaguidi tied a career-high with four goals and the No. 4 California women’s water polo team had the ball and a chance to tie in the final seconds but ultimately fell 15-14 to No. 1 UCLA on Saturday in the semifinals of the MPSF Tournament.

Sophomore Feline Voordouw and freshman Miriam Bogachenko added three goals apiece for the Golden Bears (18-5), who meet No. 2 USC in Sunday’s Third Place Game at UCLA’s Spieker Aquatic Center.

The teams spent the first quarter exchanging goals before Cal established a 7-4 lead with just over three minutes left in the half. The Bruins responded by scoring five of the final six goals of the second period to lead 9-8 at the break.

UCLA carried the momentum over into the second half and led 13-10 with 1:20 remaining in the third quarter, but the Bears responded. Bogachenko scored with three seconds left in the period and Voordouw added another to cut the deficit to 13-12 with 5:35 to play. The Bruins still led 15-13 before Bonaguidi converted to trim the lead to a single goal with 56 seconds left. Cal forced a turnover on UCLA’s ensuing possession and called a timeout with 26 seconds remaining but couldn’t find the equalizer on its final possession and the Bruins held on.

Saturday marked the third time in the Bears’ past five games that Bonaguidi has registered four goals. She’s scored 15 goals during that span.

Senior Ruby Swadling added four assists and two steals for Cal.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (April 25, 2025) — A contingent of the Morgan State men’s track and field team delivered a series of commendable performances at the 129th Running of the Penn Relays presented by Toyota during events held on a sunny Friday at historic Franklin Field. From an impressive individual effort in the triple jump to strategic teamwork in relay races, the Morgan State athletes displayed a competitive spirit at the renowned track meet.

Omari McKenzie delivered a solid performance in the College Triple Jump event, continuing his upward trajectory this season. The junior entered the day coming off a personal best leap of 14.37 meters at the Legacy Track Meet, posted a distance of 14:07 meters. While slightly shy of his PB, the distance displayed his ability to perform at a high level under pressure.

The Bears showcased their teamwork with all three relay teams. The 4x100m, 4x200m, and 4x400m squads each clocked in with season-best times. 

The 4×100 meter relay team, consisting of Jadon Ra-Akbar, Dante Jackson, Maxim Copeland, and Doyin Smith, clocked in with a time of 41.51. The versatility of Copeland, Jackson, and Smith was further showcased in the College 4x200m Championship of America, where, joined by Antonio Sims, they battled to an eighth-place finish, clocking in at 1:24.82. The same core trio, again with Sims, also demonstrated their endurance and competitive spirit in the College 4x400m, contributing to a team time of 3:16.97.

The Bears relay team, composed of Dante Jackson, Demond Smith, Samuel Skinner, and Rushshane Fullerton, showcased their speed in the College Sprint Medley Championship of America. Their collective effort culminated in an 11th place finish, a respectable showing against a strong field, clocking in at 3:25.98.

Clara Knab recorded the program’s highest finish by placing second in the 800-meter run. Her time of 2:17.72 earned the slot. 

Cassidy Roop was one of two runners in the 3000-meter steeplechase. She placed second, running 12:27.9. 

Several athletes finished fourth. Megan Cain did so in the 100-meter hurdles, running 16 seconds flat. Hailey Reinhard achieved the designation in the 1500-meter run, racing 4:47.71. Javelineer Melissa Viellette, part of the nation’s seventh-best javelin throw group, upheld her quartet’s standing, tossing 34.98m (114-9). Avery Rebar tossed 13m (42-8) in the shot put. 

Jenna Wright finished fifth in the 400-meter dash, recording 58.94. Madison Libby followed her example in the long jump, leaping 17-6.25.

Senior Siena Vestri placed seventh in the discus, throwing 34.70m (113-10). 

Senior Brenna Paxton recorded eighth in the hammer throw, tossing 35.40m (116-1). Morgan Deweese earned the same placement in the triple jump, leaping 35-1.75. 

Cami Burkett, running only a few miles from her hometown of Portage, finished tenth in the 100-meter dash, logging 12.88. The freshman’s fan base filled the stands. 

Bucknell heads to Worcester next weekend for the Patriot League Outdoor Championships. 

GLASSBORO, NJ — #22 Rowan Women’s Track & Field was in competition at The Penn Relays and the TCNJ Lions Invitational over the weekend, where the squad was fine-tuning its top times this season.

Penn Relays (FINAL RESULTS)

– The 4×400 relay of Molly Lodge, Ava Reilly, Jasmine Broadway, and Nyla Jones turned in a season-best time (3:48.10) in the preliminaries on Friday, improving on its #1 NJAC result and moved into the Division III top 10; The foursome did not race in the finals on Saturday

TCNJ Lions Invitational (FINAL RESULTS)

– Anna Sasse produced a PR and the #3 time in the NJAC in the 800 meters (2:13.74); Gabriella Pagano also clocked in a PR in the same event (2:18.32)

– Rhi’Onna Timmons topped out at 4.98 meters in the long jump to move into the #10 spot in the NJAC

The team will head back to TCNJ in next weekend’s New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships that get underway on Saturday, May 3rd.
