INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Mecum Auctions will return to the Indiana State Fairgrounds from May 9-17 for Dana Mecum’s 38th Original Spring Classic.
Approximately 3,000 collector and classic cars are expected to cross the auction block during the nine-day event.
The annual auction, a major fixture on the collector car calendar, has topped $100 million in total sales for four consecutive years. The event will also feature daily offerings of Road Art.
A wide-ranging slate of vehicles will be featured, including Dana Mecum’s personal 1965 Ford GT/109 Competition Prototype Roadster, the only GT Roadster to race in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Other top consignments include a rare 1957 Chevrolet El Morocco Convertible, one of just 10 known to exist, and a one-of-one 1962 Excalibur RS Roadster.
Several curated collections will also be auctioned, including The JK Collection, assembled by late Mecum TV commentator John Kraman. His personal 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe is among the featured lots.
The Dave Frecka Collection will bring a trio of high-performance McLarens to the block, including a 2021 Elva Roadster, a 2020 Sabre and a 2020 Speedtail XP3.
The West Coast Customs Collection, presented by TV personality Ryan Friedlinghaus, will offer custom vehicles such as a 2012 Volkswagen Passat and a 1997 Toyota 4Runner, with all proceeds benefiting the West Coast Customs Academy.
Additional notable consignments include a Warner Bros.-licensed 1989 Batmobile Coupe, a 1969 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro in Hugger Orange, a low-mileage 2020 Ford GT Carbon Series, and a 1956 Ford Thunderbird Convertible.
The event is family-friendly, with children 12 and younger admitted free. Attractions include the Adventure Zone, the Dodge Thrill Ride, food vendors, and special Mother’s Day celebrations.
