The Vaqueros opened with a first round 309 and are tied with UT Arlington and just four shots out of the top-10. SMU, who is ranked No. 16 in the Scoreboard rankings, holds the first day lead after posting a 293. Junior Arthit Kruaprayong led the way for the Vaqueros on the first day as he posted a two-over par 74 putting him tied for 17th. Sophomore and McAllen Memorial alum Esteban Gonzalez is tied for 40th after a first round 77 while sophomore Emilio Gil Leyva is tied for 48th with a first round 78. Redshirt senior Taj Sutherland, who is playing as an individual, is tied for 53rd after posting a first round 79. SophomoreEddie Lai is tied for 59th with a first round 80 and senior Juan Luis de Bethencourt Duque is tied for 67th with a first round 81. Louisiana Monroe's Louis Anceaux holds the individual lead after the first round after posting a four-under 68. PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men’s golf team is tied for 11^th place after the first day of the Vaqueros Intercollegiate on Sunday at Playa Paraiso Golf Club.

The Vaqueros opened with a first round 309 and are tied with UT Arlington and just four shots out of the top-10. SMU, who is ranked No. 16 in the Scoreboard rankings, holds the first day lead after posting a 293.
