PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men’s tennis team defeated Virginia Tech, 4-3, in their first-ever meeting at the Hecht Tennis Center on Friday.
Match Results
On the doubles side, the Quakers won their first two matches to take the point. Manfredi Graziani / Shaurya Bharadwaj beat Maxime St-Hilaire / Frank Thompson, 6-3. Aaron Sandler / Matthew Rutter rallied back down 5-2 to win the match on the tiebreak.
Justin Chung won the first singles match for Penn in consecutive sets at No. 3. After falling in the second set, Tal Goodman bounced back to take the match, winning the third set, 6-2. Shaurya Bharadwaj secured the win for the Red and Blue at No. 4, winning 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
