Michigan freshman star Olivia Olson to host youth basketball camp
ANN ARBOR – Michigan basketball sensation Olivia Olson is giving back to the Ann Arbor community this summer.
The reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Year will host a youth girls basketball camp on June 28 at Ann Arbor Father Gabriel Richard High School.
The event will run from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. for students in grades 4-8 and the cost for attendees is $100. The session is part of the Maize and Blue Impact Camp events.
Features of the camp include coaching, position and agility training as well as competitive drills and games. It is open to campers of all skill levels, according to the camp’s website.
Camp participants will receive a camp t-shirt, an autographed photo, an individual photo with Olson, and other awards. There will also be a Q&A session with Olson.
The New Hope, Minnesota native, set a Michigan freshman scoring record (553 points) on her way to being named Freshman of the Year.
Olson started all 34 games and averaged 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.4 steals.
