Notes

• Michigan has made five previous trips to the ITA National Team Indoors, with this being the fourth time in the last five years. The Wolverines made the semifinals in both 2020 and 2023.

• All-time, Virginia holds a 10-4 advantage in the all-time series. Michigan and Virginia last met in this same tournament in 2023 when the Wolverines made their run to the semifinals. After defeating Stanford, 4-2, in the first round, they topped UV, 4-0, in the quarterfinals.

• The squad is 4-2 on the season and ranked No. 20 in the latest ITA national poll — in a schedule that has seen the team play four top-25 teams. Michigan lost a 4-1 match at No. 6 Columbia on Sunday, with the Wolverines taking the doubles point with wins over two ranked pairs.

Benjamin Kittay is ranked No. 87 in singles play and boasts a 5-1 record. He is 2-1 at No. 1 singles, sliding into the role with Gavin Young out, and is 3-0 at No. 2 singles. Young checks in at No. 109 in singles (2-1 duals, 10-5 overall) while Patorn Hanchaikul is No. 117 (3-1 duals, 6-3 overall). Both Kittay and Hanchaikul have captured Big Ten Player of the Week honors this spring season.

•  Virginia is ranked No. 5 in the ITA national poll with a 6-1 record. The Cavaliers lineup includes No. 26 Dylan Dietrich, No. 44 Rafael Jodar and No. 103 Keegan Rice. Rice and partner James Hopper are No. 65 in doubles while Dietrich and Mans Dahlberg are No. 75. In early February, Virginia upset the No. 1 team in the nation, Texas, with a 4-3 win at home. It came just two days after the Cavs dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 3 ranked Ohio State.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The 20th-ranked University of Michigan men’s tennis team will head to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship as the No. 7 seed in the Dallas region to play No. 5th-ranked and second-seeded Virginia on Friday (Feb. 14) at 9 a.m. CT in the first match of the tournament.
