EUGENE, Ore. – Local sports fans are in for a treat as the second annual Kidsports Celebrity Softball Game takes place on July 12 at Jane Sanders Stadium.
This event will feature current, former, and incoming Oregon athletes coming together to support youth sports. The evening will begin with a home run derby, followed by a softball game with teams led by quarterback Dante Moore and local star Bryce Boettcher. Big names like Nate Bittle and Dez Patmon are on the roster, with all athletes donating their time to help local kids stay active and involved in sports.
“Every athlete that’s participating in this event has a youth sports origin story,” said Nate Baldwin, the event’s associate executive director. “So, it’s really fun for them, I think, to be able to give back and set up the next generation for that same type of experience they had that gave them the joy and love of sports.”
Proceeds from the game will benefit the Emerald Scholarship Fund, which helps nearly 4,000 local kids play sports each year. Ticket prices range from $10 to $50 and include access to a silent auction featuring signed memorabilia and more.
For those interested in more details, information is available on the Kidsports website.

EA Sports College Football 26 rolled out some more player rankings and revealed its top 20 quarterbacks. Get ready to play as these guys with their respective schools.
Or of course, try to get them to transfer to your favorite program in dynasty mode! The list is pretty close to the standard ranking of quarterbacks throughout college football this year.
Without further ado, let’s dive into EA’s QB rankings for the new edition of the game. They are in order to go along with their actual rating.
There’s been a lot of buzz lately about Klubnik being the top quarterback in college football. Heck, some early mock drafts have him as the top QB, if not the No. 1 overall pick next spring.
Last season, he had a career year. Klubnik had 3,639 yards, 36 touchdowns, six interceptions and a 63.4% completion percentage to go along with 463 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns.

Nussmeier is a popular pick to win the Heisman Trophy this coming season, among other quarterbacks. But he’s proven he could fill the shoes of Jayden Daniels and could get LSU to the College Football Playoff this fall.
Last season, Nussmeier threw for 4,052 yards, 29 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and a 64.2% completion percentage. Expect those types of numbers once again this fall.
3. Drew Allar, Penn State – 92
Drew Allar has the build, the skill and the poise to be one of the best QBs in the country. It’ll be interesting to see how he follows up last year’s run to the CFP semifinals with national championship expectations in 2025.
Allar was a more accurate quarterback last year and tossed 24 touchdowns. He also threw for 3,327 yards but had eight interceptions compared to two in 2023.
4. Sam Leavitt, Arizona State – 91
Leavitt broke out last season, helping the Sun Devils win the Big 12 and make the College Football Playoff. The hype train around Arizona State is still chugging along.
Last season, he threw for 2,885 yards, 24 touchdowns, six interceptions and a 61.7% completion percentage. He added 443 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns.
Sellers is a dual threat quarterback and would be fun to play in a video game wouldn’t he? Especially after his 2024 season and following some development, he’ll be a player to watch in the SEC this fall.
Last year, Sellers threw for 2,543 yards, 18 touchdowns, seven interceptions and a 65.6% completion percentage. He also ran for 674 yards and seven touchdowns.
Mateer is about to get way more hype now that he’s in the SEC. That’s just the way it works despite his really productive season as a quarterback at Washington State.
Last year, he threw for 3,139 yards, 29 touchdowns, seven interceptions and a 64.6% completion percentage. He also ran for 826 yards and 15 touchdowns. Good luck stopping him!
Beck gets a fresh start at Miami following his transfer this offseason. The former Georgia quarterback had a lot of ups with the Bulldogs, but also some downs and ended last year with a season-ending injury.
Last season, Beck was productive, but his completion percentage went down (64.7%) and interceptions went up (12). Still, he threw for 3,485 yards and 28 touchdowns in 13 games.

This man is a hammer! Horvath would run through a brick wall over passing it any day! In all seriousness, he’s a quality quarterback for Navy.
As a passer, Horvath only threw for 1,353 yards, 13 touchdowns, four interceptions and a 57.6% completion percentage. But as a runner, he’s a stud: 1,246 yards, 17 touchdowns and 7.1 yards per carry.
Manning was already getting a lot of hype going into his first full year as a starting quarterback. Now, the latest EA video game already has him as a top 10 player.
In limited opportunities, and two starts, Manning threw for 939 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions last year. He can also run really well, clocking in as one of the fastest QBs in the country, and he ran for 108 yards and four touchdowns on just 25 attempts.
10. DJ Lagway, Florida – 90
Lagway has a lot of potential as a quarterback and it seems like EA is banking on it as well. As long as he develops and stays healthy, he could really elevate Florida to new heights in 2025.
As a freshman, Lagway threw for 1,915 yards, 12 touchdowns, nine interceptions and a 59.9% completion percentage. If he cuts down on the turnovers and the offensive symmetry improves, it should be a good year.
NASCAR’s Daniel Suarez won’t drive for Trackhouse in 2026

CONCORD, N.C. — Daniel Suárez, the only driver born in Mexico to win a NASCAR national series race, is out at Trackhouse Racing at the end of the current season.
The team and Suárez both called the parting a mutual decision that allows the 33-year-old driver an earlier opportunity to pursue a new ride for next year. The announcement was made Tuesday.
Trackhouse, which currently has charters for three full-time cars, launched in 2021 with one car and Suárez — who had previously competed in the top-tier Cup Series for Joe Gibbs Racing (2017-18), Stewart-Haas Racing (2019) and Gaunt Brothers Racing (2020) — behind the wheel.
While the organization did not name a replacement in the No. 99 Chevrolet, Suárez’s departure opened the door for the team to promote teen sensation Connor Zilisch. The 18-year-old Zilisch, who currently drives in the second-tier Xfinity Series for JR Motorsports, has run three Cup Series races for Trackhouse this season, including last Saturday night at EchoPark Speedway near Atlanta.
Suárez has just two wins in 305 career starts on NASCAR’s top circuit, and he is a distant 29th in the Cup Series points standings this year with the regular season past its midpoint. Suarez made the 16-driver playoffs in 2022, when he wound up 10th, and again last year, when he ultimately finished 12th.
“We took a team nobody had even heard of in 2021 and in just a couple of years we were winning races and running upfront on a weekly basis,” Suárez wrote on social media. “Just like the seasons in a year, sometimes things change and we have agreed to each go in our own direction.”
Trackhouse founder and owner Justin Marks thanked Suárez for his contributions.
“The role Daniel has played in the Trackhouse origin story and its first five years will remain a valued part of the company’s history forever,” Marks said in a released statement. “His commitment, work ethic and dedication to the effort is one of the most impressive things I personally have seen in my career.”
Trackhouse also has Ross Chastain in the No. 1 Chevy and Shane van Gisbergen in the No. 88 Chevy under contract, along with Zilisch as its development driver. Chastain, who joined Trackhouse in 2022 when it added a second car, was the 2022 Cup Series runner-up and has six career wins, including the Coca-Cola 600 in May to secure a playoff berth. Van Gisbergen, who came on board as a full-time driver this year as Trackhouse added yet another car, won last month’s Cup Series race in Mexico City to lock up his own postseason spot.
Suárez, who became an American citizen last year, also has three Xfinity Series wins and one victory on the third-tier Truck Series during his NASCAR career. He became the only foreign-born driver to win a national series season title in 2016, when he won the Xfinity championship for JGR.
He made a triumphant return last month to his home country when he won the Xfinity Series race in Mexico City driving for JR Motorsports at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, yet the balance of celebrating a homecoming with looming contract negotiations weighed on the Monterrey native.
“It’s not the first time that I’ve been in this position. Definitely the first time with the Mexico race, but it’s not the first time that I’ve been in the position that we have to win or in the position that we have a contract negotiation in the middle of the season,” Suárez said ahead of that weekend when asked about being in the final year of his deal.
“It’s definitely a distraction. I won’t sit here and tell you that it doesn’t really matter. I’m trying to be as smart as possible and to put all this stuff on the side and just do my thing on the track.”
He’ll do his thing at the track in 2026 with yet another new team, although he still has an opportunity to give Trackhouse a full stable of three cars in this year’s 10-race playoffs.
Eight races remain in the regular season, a stretch that starts with Sunday’s return to the streets of downtown Chicago for the third year in a row. Suarez finished 11th in last year’s race — when Hendrick Motorsports driver Alex Bowman took the checkered flag — and was 27th in 2023, when van Gisbergen won while making his NASCAR debut in a Trackhouse part-time entry.

A 24-year-old Sandoval woman has pleaded guilty in Marion County Court to two counts of aggravated battery to separate Sandoval Police Officers.
The charges against Siara Stokes of South Mine Street stem from a February 3rd, 2024 incident where she is accused of kicking both of the officers knowing they were police officers performing their official duties. A third count of resisting or obstructing a police officer was dropped.
As part of the negotiated plea, Stokes will serve two years probation, abstain with random testing, drug and alcohol evaluation with treatment, counseling as directed, no contact orders with two people and their places of employment, ten hours of public service work, and 164 days in the county jail with day for day credit. Stokes was also ordered to pay a $200 public defender fee and $600 probation service fee.
