Race Report

Green flag, Palou is clear before turn one. Malukas rolls the outside and he works to the right rear of Palou off turn two. Palou is clear into turn three. Nolan Siegel clips the apron and finds the turn four wall behind them, caution.

Green, Graham Rahal gets sideways and saves it but the caution is out.

Green, Malukas has a run on Palou into turn one. Palou blocks the inside. Malukas looks outside and he clears him off turn two to take the lead away.

Lap 41, Malukas struggles with lap traffic. Palou dives inside and takes the lead away.

Lap 61, the first pit cycle is complete. Palou leads McLaughlin by 1.4 seconds.

Lap 87, Will Power tags the rear of Graham Rahal. Rahal wiggles but he saves it, no caution.

Caution during pit cycle

Lap 104, David Malukas heads for the pit lane. It’s a very slow stop for him due to a wheel gun issue.

Lap 105, Palou pits from the race lead. Will Power runs wide, finds the marbles and tags the wall exiting turn two. Power spins into turn three and the caution is out!

Malukas is trapped a lap down after the slow stop. Palou cycles back to the race lead.

Green, Palou leads with the lap car of Malukas all over him. McLaughlin runs 2nd but he’s the third car in line.

Lap 143, Callum Ilott is up in smoke and the caution is out.

Palou heads for the pit lane. Armstrong stays out and takes over the race lead.

Green, Palou looks to the outside of Armstrong into turn one. With fresh tires, he drives right by on the outside with fresh tires.

51 to go

51 to go, Palou cycles to the race lead as the final pit cycle is complete. McLaughlin trails by 1.2 seconds. Newgarden runs 3rd.

42 to go, caution due to light rain. Track sweepers are cleaning up the outside lane during this caution.

Green with 28 to go, Palou opens a gap in a hurry as McLaughlin is trapped behind lap cars.

Newgarden wiggles and Christian Rasmussen takes 3rd.

21 to go, Christian Rasmussen drives it deep on the outside of McLaughlin. Rasmussen to 2nd! Palou leads by 1.7 seconds.

16 to go, Rasmussen is on the back of Palou. He has a run into turn three. Palou blocks the inside, Rasmussen looks to the outside. They nearly bang wheels as they fight for space off turn four. Rasmussen takes the lead!

Christian Rasmussen wins his first career Indycar Series race!
