MINNEAPOLIS — The University of Minnesota gymnastics program held their annual intrasquad meet on Friday afternoon at Maturi Pavilion. It was the last unofficial tuneup before the team opens the season on Jan. 4.
Freshman Teryn Crump finished with the top all-around score with a 38.875 in her first unofficial meet as a Gopher. Senior Mya Hooten had the top score on vault (9.875) and bars (9.850) while Lauren Pearl went 9.850 to lead all Gophers on beam. Pearl and Crump both earned 9.750’s on floor to lead the team.
EVENT BREAKDOWN:
VAULT
10 Gophers competed on vault, with the top five registering scoring a 48.975. Hooten led the way with a 9.875 while junior Megan Steensland was right behind her at 9.850. Sarah Moraw posted a 9.825 while freshman Ava Stewart went 9.750.
BARS
Minnesota had 11 compete on the uneven bars. Led by Hooten’s 9.850, the top five on the ‘U’ combined for a 48.850. Teryn Crump, Marissa Jencks and Sophia Nguyen all tallied 9.750s.
BEAM
Lauren Pearl led the group with a 9.850 while 2024 Big Ten Beam Champion Sarah Moraw was right behind her at 9.825. Brooklyn Rowray, in her return from her achilles injury, recorded a 9.750. Crump also recorded a 9.750 while Steensland and Stewart each went 9.725. The top five on the event combined for a score of 48.900.
FLOOR
On the floor, Minnesota had 10 gymnasts compete. Crump and Pearl paced the group with 9.750s while Sophie Swartzmiller earned a 9.725.
UP NEXT
Minnesota will officially begin its regular season on Saturday, Jan. 4 at Maturi Pavilion against Central Michigan. The meet will be streamed on B1G+ at 4 p.m.
