MINNEAPOLIS — Gopher gymnasts Mya Hooten, Jordyn Lyden, Sarah Moraw and Ava Stewart were named to the All-Big Ten teams this afternoon, the conference announced. Hooten earned first team honors while Jordyn Lyden, Sarah Moraw and Ava Stewart were named to the second team. Senior Emily Koch was Minnesota’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree.Emily Koch, a fifth-year senior from Bloomington, Minn., earned the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award for Minnesota. Koch competed in all 10 meets for the Gophers this year, including 10 times on beam and eight times on floor. She hit 9.850-or-better three times on beam, including a season-high 9.900 on Sunday. She was stellar on floor, going under 9.850 just once and hitting 9.900 five times in eight routines. She ranks 10th in the Big Ten with a 9.895 NQS on floor. No. 15 Minnesota competes in the Big Ten Championships this weekend in Ann Arbor, Mich. They’ll be competing against No. 5 UCLA, No. 9 Michigan State and No. 17 Michigan Saturday night at 5 p.m. ET/4 p.m. CT on BTN. The Gophers are in Session III, the top session at the championships.Sophomore Jordyn Lyden had a breakout year two to earn All-Big Ten honors for the first time in her career. One of the top uneven bars specialists in the Big Ten with an NQS of 9.900, Lyden led Minnesota with seven bars event titles this season. She hit 9.900 five times, including a season-high of 9.950. The Stillwater, Minn., native, who ranks 27th in the nation on bars, also had an outstanding season on balance beam. Lyden led the ‘U’ with four beam titles, hitting 9.900 three times. She ranks eighth in the Big Ten and in the top-50 nationally on the event.The All-Big Ten and All-Freshman teams were determined based on the national qualifying scores (NQS) accumulated by student-athletes during the 2025 season.
Mya Hooten earned her fifth consecutive All-Big Ten honor, including her fourth first team accolade. Hooten went an incredible 10-for-10 on floor event titles this season, posting an NQS of 9.930 and an average of 9.918. She ranks 11th in the country and third in the Big Ten on the event. In her 10 routines this season, she’s gone 9.900-or-better nine times, including eight at 9.925-or-better. Hooten leads Minnesota with 16 event titles, including four on vault and two on bars. She’s posted highs of 9.950 on both events and ranks 21st in the nation on vault. She was named Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week twice this season, making that 13 times in her career. She’s on track to win WCGA All-America honors on floor and has a chance to earn it on vault with a big weekend at the Big Ten Championships.Junior Sarah Moraw, who tied for the Big Ten Balance Beam Championship in 2024, earned her first All-Big Ten honor in 2025. A staple on the vault and beam teams, Moraw hit highs of 9.900 three times on vault this season, earning an NQS of 9.865 and ranking 11th in the conference on the event and winning two event titles. On balance beam, Moraw hit 9.850-or-better five times, including a high of 9.925 at Ohio State. She ranked 24th in the Big Ten on the event with a 9.850 NQS.Finally, rookie sensation Ava Stewart became the first Gophers freshman to earn All-Big Ten honors since Mya Hooten did so in 2021. Stewart was named to both the second team and Big Ten All-Freshman teams on Monday afternoon. The two-time Canadian Olympian competed consistently on vault, bars and beam in 2025. She won three vault and three beam event titles, ranking third on the team in total victories. Stewart went 9.850-or-better six times on vault, posting an NQS of  9.885, ranking seventh in the Big Ten. On bars, she placed 28th, but hit 9.900s twice, including a career-high 9.925 vs. Nebraska. On beam, Stewart ranked 24th in the conference with a 9.850 NQS. She hit 9.850-or-higher five times, with a high score of 9.900. She won Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Jan. 7 after posting a 9.875 on beam in her first meet.
