All signs point to Bregman, who primarily played third base during his nine seasons with the Houston Astros, moving to second base for the Red Sox with Rafael Devers already occupying the hot corner. But Morosi doesn’t believe that plan is set in stone yet.

Bregman has started only two games in his career at second base while he earned Gold Glove honors at third last season. On the other hand, Devers has the most errors at third base in his career among active players.

“The question I had last night is what does this mean for Kristian Campbell?” Morosi said. “I actually spoke with a scout this week who said he believes Kristian Campbell is one of the top three prospects in the entire sport. That he’s that elite. … There’s a path for Anthony to play in the outfield this year. There’s also a path at some point depending on Trevor Story’s health, etc. for (Marcelo) Mayer or for Campbell to get involved in the club at the major league level this season in particular.”
