The MongolZ and Team Vitality progressed to the champions stage at the Perfect World Shanghai Major with wins on Friday in China.

Both squads enhanced their records to 3-0 in the elimination stage, as The MongolZ triumphed over Heroic 2-1 and Vitality defeated MIBR with a clean 2-0 sweep in their Round 3 high matches.

The elimination stage of the $1.25 million Counter-Strike 2 tournament is ongoing until Sunday in a Swiss System format, allowing the top eight teams to advance to the playoffs while the bottom eight face elimination. Matches for elimination and advancement are best-of-three, with all other matches being best-of-one.

The victorious team from the playoffs taking place from Dec. 12-15 will earn a prize of $500,000.

On Friday, Heroic started strong with a 13-8 victory on Mirage, but The MongolZ came back to secure a 19-17 win in overtime on Anubis and a 13-6 win on Ancient.

Vitality faced MIBR with greater ease, winning decisively 13-3 on Mirage and 13-5 on Anubis.

BIG and Wildcard were the first two teams to be eliminated, both finishing with a record of 0-3. In the Round 3 low matches, GamerLegion fought back for a 2-1 victory against Wildcard, while paiN Gaming also overcame BIG with a 2-1 score.

Play resumes on Saturday with Round 4 featuring three high matches involving teams at 2-1 and three low matches among those at 1-2.
