WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University Softball sophomore Olivia Lewis turned in a strong effort in the circle, but a handful of timely hits by UNCW made the difference as the Hawks fell 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at MU Softball Park.
Lewis went the distance for Monmouth, allowing four runs on 10 hits over seven innings. She kept the Seahawks off the board through the first three frames and worked efficiently throughout the contest. At the plate, the Hawks were led by Liv Smith and Kylee McLain, who each recorded a hit.
UNCW broke a scoreless tie in the fourth with a run-scoring single before adding two more in the fifth and another in the seventh.
