WATKINS GLEN — For just the seventh time in NASCAR history, the Craftsman Truck Series will be making an appearance at Watkins Glen International.
On Friday, the trucks and the ARCA Menards Series will be ready for the green flag at WGI to kick things off for what is expected to be another exciting race weekend at The Glen.
ARCA will get things going on Friday afternoon with the General Tire 100 at The Glen at 2 p.m. and the Truck Series will begin soon after for the Mission 176 at The Glen on Friday at 5 p.m.
This will also be the seventh time in which the ARCA series has competed at WGI and it’s the fifth consecutive year of the event.
In 2024, it was a special weekend for Connor Zilisch, who found victory lane for ARCA and also in the XFinity Series.
Zilisch will not be in the field for this year’s ARCA race at The Glen, so a new name will rise in 2025.
There has yet to be a repeat champion for the series at WGI and current ARCA points leader Brenden Queen is expected to make an impact this week.
Queen leads ARCA this season with five victories and the only other driver that has multiple wins in 2025 is Brent Crews, who will also be in the field searching for his third victory of the year.
With the trucks, Layne Riggs is the hottest driver coming in with wins in two of the past three races.
However, current Craftsman Truck Series points leader Corey Heim seems to be the favorite.
This is just the second race for the trucks at WGI since 2000 but in ARCA’s return to the track in 2021, Heim found victory lane.
During that same ‘21 season, Austin Hill won the trucks race.
Hill won’t be in this year’s race to defend his title from four years ago but he will be in the lineup for the XFinity Series’ Mission 200 at The Glen race on Saturday.
