The remainder of the Spartans’ schedule for the 2025-26 hockey season has been released.

A month ago the Spartans’ released their non-conference schedule, and on Friday the Big Ten slate was released to complete the entire 2025-26 men’s hockey schedule. Here are some of the highlights and notable items from the schedule this season:

  • Michigan State’s first action of the season is an exhibition game against Windsor on October 3 from Munn Ice Arena in East Lansing, Mich. The Spartans will play another exhibition game against the US National Team Development Program in early January as well.
  • The Spartans’ first regular season action will be a two-game home series against New Hampshire on October 9 and 10.
  • Michigan State’s other non-conference series are against Boston University (away), Northern Michigan (away) and Colgate (home).
  • The Spartans open Big Ten play on November 7 in a home two-game series against Penn State. The Nittany Lions and Spartans will both be preseason top five (possibly No. 1 and No. 2) teams this season.
  • Michigan State will play Ferris State in the first round of the Great Lakes Invitational in Grand Rapids, Mich. on December 28. They’ll play either Michigan Tech or Miami (OH) in the second game of the event on December 29.
  • Michigan State will host rival Michigan only once this season, with the Wolverines getting two home games in the rivalry this year and the fourth game being at Little Caesars Arena as the Duel In The D.
  • The Spartans’ final regular season game of the year will be at Minnesota on March 6

Michigan State is the back-to-back defending Big Ten champions in both the regular season and conference tournament. The Spartans were No. 1 seeds in each of the last two NCAA Tournaments, but have failed to make it out of the first weekend to the Frozen Four in each of those years.

The Spartans will once again come into this season with high expectations, as a preseason favorite to win the Big Ten and contend for a national championship.
