MSU’s Smith, Kimutai & Robertson Post Top-15 Finishes at Angel Mounds
The Racers put together a big finish with three runners in the top-15, including Liz Smith in 10th place, Ruth Kimutai in 12th and Molly Robertson in 13th place.
MSU’s average time in the 6K event was 21:57.
Angel Mounds is also the same venue the Missouri Valley Conference will hold its championship on Oct. 31.
“Our entire women’s team attacked the start of the race with confidence and really committed to working with each other – something we have placed a large emphasis on all season,” said Coach Jordan Johnston. “Ruth made a gutsy move and surged around the 4k kar, but when she started to struggle her teammate Liz Smith was there to help her which I love to see. Abigail Crask and Ainsley Smith worked incredibly well together for almost 5k of the race. That landed Ainsley with a 42 second PR. These women are very ready for conference in two weeks.”
