WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Williams College hosted its annual Farley Inter Regional Extravaganza (FIRE) Meet over the weekend, and freshman Sam Myers (Ponte Vedra Beach, Calif.) was the Coast Guard Academy men’s track & field team’s lone representative at the compeition.

Myers competed in the 800 meters and ran 1:55.78. The first-year mid-distance specialist secured a top-30 placement after his time stacked up as the 28th-best and tied for second with WPI senior Brendan May.

He finished less than a second away from putting up a new outdoor personal record in the event. His best time occurred in his last outing in the distance at the Trinity Invitational back in mid-April, where he was 10th after running 1:55.53

Bears men’s track & field is gearing up for the upcoming Last Chance Weekend, during which they’ll be competing at MIT’s Final Qualifier. The meet will be a one-day event held this Thursday, May 15th, with the start time expected to be around 10:00 AM.
