Williams told NJ Advance Media earlier this week Kean, located in Union, will add women’s flag football to its varsity sports offerings beginning in the spring of 2026 — the same season girls flag football could become an NJISAA-sactioned sport on the high school level in New Jersey.Acknowledging the meteoric rise in girls flag football participation in New Jersey and across the nation, Kean University athletic director Kelly Williams said it’s the “right time” for the Division 3 school to offer flag football as an intercollegiate sport.
