A football coach at a small Bergen County school said he was fired last week because his expectations were too high for a Group 1 program.

Park Ridge coach Jim Cleary told NJ Advance Media on Tuesday he was let go from his post following a meeting with the school’s administration in which they disagreed with his plan for an offseason workout program, which was primarily focused on weightlifting.

Cleary said he laid out his plan for the workout program during the interview process before he was hired with expectations to build strength for the team. He thinks there might’ve been complaints that were taken to administrations by parents, eventually leading to his dismissal.
