An average of 4.04 million viewers watched Austin Cindric take his first Cup Series victory of the season at Talladega Superspeedway last weekend.

This was the first race to air on the main Fox channel since Nascar visited the Circuit of The Americas in early March, providing a welcome boost to the season audience.

However, this is the fourth-straight year in which the Talladega race has suffered a year-over-year (YoY) audience decline, as this year’s event fell 6.2 per cent.

Nascar’s year-to-date (YTD) average viewership now sits at 3.44 million, which falls short of last year’s figure at the same point last season (3.61 million). YTD average viewership has been behind last year since the sixth regular season race of the season at Homestead-Miami.

Talladega is the last race of 2025 to be broadcast on the main Fox channel, as FS1 will air the final three races before Nascar switches to Prime Video for the first time.

On Fox, 4.52 million viewers have tuned in, which is a significant increase on the 3.96 million viewers last year.

But the number of races on FS1 this season has seen the overall audience suffer. Nine of the 14 races in Fox’s contract this year were assigned to cable, which delivers substantially lower viewership figures for Nascar.

Meanwhile, the second-tier Xfinity Series continued its strong run of viewership on The CW as 1.26 million viewers tuned in at Talladega.

While this is the lowest audience for an Xfinity Series race at Talladega since 2019 (988,000 viewers), it means that the series has averaged at least one million viewers for 11 races in a row. It is also the third-highest audience for an Xfinity Series race since the broadcast switch to The CW last September.
