The NASCAR Cup Series is making its way to Texas for the second and last time this season with the WURTH 400 at Texas Motor Speedway.
Texas is a benchmark for teams as one of the several 1.5-mile tracks the series runs throughout the season, especially after coming out of the break and following the chaotic race at Talladega.

Carson Hocevar is on the pole for the first time in his NASCAR Cup Series career after setting a blazing lap in the May 3 qualifying session.
Austin Cindric won the previous race at Talladega to get Team Penske its first win of the 2025 season.

Lap 132: Todd Gilliland stays out, takes lead of NASCAR Texas race
Todd Gilliland stayed out during the caution and has the lead as we go back to green with 34 laps left in the second stage.

Kyle Larson quickly took the lead away with Ryan Preece second, Tyler Reddick third and polesitter Carson Hocevar fourth.
Lap 124: Josh Berry spins from lead during NASCAR Texas race
Josh Berry was driving away from the field, but he ran into lapped traffic. He ran toward the high line, hit the bump in turn 4 Briscoe hit earlier, and spun from the lead.
Berry did hit the outside wall but he will be able to continue but is almost certainly out of the running for the win. Berry has damage to the rear bumper.
Pit stops are coming for the entire field.
Lap 93: Christopher Bell has pit road trouble as green flag flies again
Bell had a tough sequence with a safety violation, then had to pull down pit road again and asked to have his air hose reconnected. His team was not able to connect it all the way and had to call him down again to fully fasten it.

Bell is currently scored 29th at the restart.
Lap 87: Chase Briscoe spins in turn 3, caution out again at NASCAR Texas race
Chase Briscoe went three wide, hit a small bump in turn 4, got loose and spun through the frontstretch to bring out the third caution of the race.
Briscoe tapped Riley Herbst and the outside wall, but will be able to continue.
Lap 87: Green flag is back out for NASCAR Texas race
Josh Berry rockets to the lead on the restart to begin the second stage of the NASCAR Texas race.
Lap 83: Josh Berry wins race off pit road, takes lead of NASCAR Texas race
Josh Berry won the race off pit road and has taken the lead of the NASCAR Texas race heading into the second stage. Berry has a win on a 1.5-mile track this season, the first race of that variety this season, at Las Vegas.
Lap 80: Austin Cindric wins stage 1 of NASCAR Texas race under caution
Austin Cindric, fresh off a win at Talladega, grabbed the lead early in the first stage and held on for the stage win under caution following Denny Hamlin’s car going up in flames.
Lap 74: Denny Hamlin on fire, will drop out of race
Denny Hamlin’s No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota is on fire. He coasted down the backstretch after spinning through turns 1 and 2. Hamlin lost power in the front stretch then flames shot out of the exhaust of the car.
Hamlin was able to get out of the car safely, but his 21-race streak of finishing on the lead lap is over.
FS1 analyst Clint Bowyer theorizes that it’s an oil pan failure.
Lap 42: Austin Cindric leads with Josh Berry lurking behind
Austin Cindric leads at Texas with Josh Berry and Chris Buescher closing in to make a run for the lead.
Lap 24: Scratch that, Denny Hamlin made a mistake with code words
Denny Hamlin misheard a code word on whether or not he was going to pit. He ended up coming around and pitting during the caution and has dropped to the back of the field.
On top of it, he picked up a speeding penalty. Tough early setback for the No. 11 team.
Lap 23: Denny Hamlin leads, some drivers take two tires
Tires early in the race are not at a major premium. Fuel, however, is key in this first stage. With the early caution, drivers were able to get enough fuel to make it to the end of the stage. Several drivers, including Austin Cindric, Josh Berry and Chris Buescher, took two tires to gain track position. Austin Dillon did the same and gained 11 spots.
Denny Hamlin did not pit under the caution and has taken the lead of the race.
Lap 21: Noah Gragson spins, first caution is out at NASCAR Texas race
Noah Gragson spun out through turns 1 and 2 to bring out the first caution of the NASCAR Texas race. No contact, he just got loose through 1 and 2 and he was able to save the car.
Now, we’ll see pit stops which could flip the stage and possibly the race. Denny Hamlin stayed out and will take the lead at the restart.
Lap 1: Green flag is out for NASCAR Texas race
The green flag is out at Texas. Carson Hocevar leads the field to green for the first time in his NASCAR Cup Series career. Hocevar leads the first lap of the race.
What to watch for NASCAR Texas race
The fuel window is approximately 70 laps at Texas. With the stages just slightly longer than 70 laps, look for teams to pit halfway between the stages and possibly twice during the final stage, depending on tires.
Drivers will need to lift off the throttle through turns 1 and 2, which have 20 degrees of banking, and find a way to not lift in turns 3 and 4, which have 24 degrees of banking.
The grooves at Texas appear to go up to the middle lane for the race, but not much higher than two grooves wide. The thought process, if a car goes outside of the gray area, they might be in trouble.
Engines are fired for NASCAR Texas race
It’s just about time to go racing for the WURTH 400 at Texas Motor Speedway. The engines are fired for all 38 NASCAR Cup Series cars, ready for 267 laps around the 1.5-mile speedway.

Alpine Partners extended its Kalitta Motorsports partnership and will sponsor Doug Kalitta’s Top Fuel Dragster at the upcoming Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, Tenn., the team announced. The 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Season resumes May 30-June 1 at the NHRA New England Nationals in Epping, N.H.
Alpine will deploy Aflac branding on Kalitta’s car for the race set for the Tennessee mountains June 6-8, 2025. Their successful B2B program is right in our wheelhouse of growing our Employee Benefits industry business, and we look forward to attending the summit late next month. We are also thrilled to deploy the Aflac brand with primary placement in Bristol, and this race is just the beginning. We look forward to additional partnership in the near future.”
“It’s great to have Alpine Partners back with us this year,” Team Kalitta General Manager Chad Head said. “We were able to introduce them to NHRA Drag Racing last year, and they had a good experience so we’re happy they’re back with their partners from Aflac this year. We look forward to a growing, mutually-beneficial partnership in the future.”

Why IHOP Rode With Dale Earnhardt Jr. In Amazon NASCAR Debut

IHOP already had Amazon Prime Video and Thursday Night Football on its sponsorship plate, but it wanted to sweeten the proposition by targeting young families on the go. With that in mind, Amazon pointed out that Dale Earnhardt Jr. and NASCAR had room in the passenger seat for another brand.
NASCAR’s new $7.7 billion rights deal with Amazon, NBC Universal, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Fox kicks off for Amazon on May 25 when it airs the Coca-Cola 600 out of Charlotte Motor Speedway. It’s the first of a five-race series for Amazon stretching into late June that’s seen the company nearly sell out of inventory for NASCAR on Prime Video and create a two-box commercial format for the whole season so sponsors don’t have to break into race coverage.
Meanwhile, Amazon’s four-part documentary about the Earnhardt racing family—”Earnhardt”—debuted today ahead of the first race on Prime.
From personal experience, Lenna Yamamichi, IHOP’s vp of brand creative, saw an opportunity to meet busy families on the move through streaming.
“I am a huge fantasy football fan, and 10 years ago, I used to not leave the house on Sundays, which meant the kids were at home and I couldn’t interact with them because Mommy had to sit in front of the TV,” Yamamichi said. “So now that we’re on the go, I can go to Disneyland with the family, and also have my streaming property.”
Earlier this year, Jay Johns—a six-year IHOP president, and 16-year veteran of IHOP parent company Dine Brands—announced his retirement and succession as IHOP’s leader by former Yum! Brands chief innovation officer Lawrence Kim. That made Yamamichi and her team take a look at their ad spending, where they saw that they had the back half of the upfront to spend with Amazon.
Seeing a trend at the last upfront toward streaming live sports, IHOP approached Amazon with a brief and partnered with them. Amazon came back with seven ideas, one of them being NASCAR.

Rookie Toni Breidinger learning each week in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series

This season has been full of challenges for Toni Breidinger. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series rookie has had growing pains. Breidinger came up through the USAC ranks, winning 19 races. She then spent time developing in ARCA and other series.
In 2025, Toni Breidinger is taking new strides in racing and in her other career. Breidinger spends her time not just going fast around the track but going around the country as a model and social media influencer.
Prior to racing at North Wilkesboro, a town of barely over 4,000 residents, Breidinger was on the New York City red carpet for Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue, in which she took part.
10 races into the season and a big weekend at Charlotte coming up, Breidinger is still learning. The Truck Series isn’t what it used to be, even a couple of years ago. The quality of racing has increased, and that has been challenging for the 25-year-old.
“Yeah, there’s honestly quite a bit of things that I was kind of surprised by this year,” Breidinger said in an interview with 5GOATs. “I knew the learning curve was going to be steep, and I knew that I had a lot to learn. But I don’t think I realized how much I was going to learn, how much I’m taking away.
“Like, after every race, I’m like wow, I feel like a new driver because I’ve learned so much. So, yeah, almost the unknown of I didn’t know how much new stuff I was going to learn. In so many different areas, from the tracks and the truck and the aero. Yeah, I’ve been learning a lot, and I’m like, I can’t believe I’ve been learning this much. Kind of crazy, but yeah.”
With millions of followers on social media, there are a lot of Toni Breidinger fans. Her recent off-track news has continued. Breidigner has signed new sponsorship deals with 818 Tequila, Kendall Jenner’s brand.
Another numerical partner will join Breidinger later this year at Lime Rock Park in 811, the “Call Before You Dig” folks, who have sponsored multiple drivers in recent years. Funding is key, even for a model, in NASCAR.
Toni Breidinger reflects on women in motorsports
This year, Toni Breidinger isn’t the only woman getting attention in NASCAR and stock car racing. She had sponsorship from the Women’s Sports Foundation earlier this season, and women have been one of the key stories to the NASCAR and ARCA season in 2025.
There are many great women in motorsports currently, and a new batch of racers is coming up through the stock car ranks right now. Asked about drivers like Isabella Robusto, Lanie Buice, Jade Avedisian, and more, Breidinger says she is excited to see so many women getting attention in the sport.
“It’s been awesome seeing the other girls come up through the sport, and obviously, Katherine Legge, with her experience in motorsports, make some Cup starts,” Breidinger said. “So, it’s been really cool to see. Been watching all their careers, and I love following along and supporting them.
“Like you said, it is tough being a female in this space, obviously male-dominated. That comes with some negatives, but I am inspired watching those girls navigate their way through the sport. So, it’s been really cool to watch.”
With a season-best finish of P18 this year, Toni Breidinger is focused on improving each and every week. Her Tricon Garage teammates provide a lot of invaluable support to her. Corey Heim, the favorite to win the Truck Series championship this year, is a great person to have in her corner.
