IRVINE, Calif. – A ton of new faces made an impact in their first action of the 2025 season as the Golden Eagles opened the year at the UCI Invitational.

Game 1: No. 13 CBU 13, CUI 9

Playing just five minutes away from home at the nearby Bren Center in the two-day tournament hosted by UC Irvine, Concordia hung tough with No. 13 California Baptist University.  CUI saw seven different players score at least once, with newcomer Carter Clenney and Dimitrios Koritsas each contributing two goals to lead the offense.

Senior Sam Diamond also scored once and added an assist against CBU, drawing him into a tie with teammate Harry Bentham for the program record for recorded assists in the DII era at Concordia.

Clenney and fellow freshman Canyon Johnson enjoyed tallying their first career goals as Golden Eagles, as did Koritsas and Hugo Wouters.

At one point, at least six freshmen were all in the pool together, going toe-to-toe against a nationally-ranked opponent.  Nicolas Fuchs also handed out a pair of assists.

New CUI goalie Pablo de Souza also debuted with 12 saves, which included an amazing denial on a five-meter penalty shot.  Kaliq Khan won the sprint to start the third period.

Game 2: Cal State Fullerton vs CUI (6 pm PT start)
