The current New York high school basketball season is in full swing. As numerous teams vie for supremacy across the state, those ranked highest according to the New York On3 Composite Ranking will attract the most attention. Below is the overview of the rankings following the first round of games, featuring three teams that made their way into the national top 100.
The On3 Composite High School Basketball Team Ranking utilizes a unique algorithm that aggregates rankings available in the public domain from reputable High School media and data organizations. It encompasses Massey, Max Preps, Cal Preps, ESPN, and SI to produce the most extensive and spatially fair High School Team Ranking.
Although the leading New York high school basketball team was defeated by Brewster Academy National at the Sunshine Classic, they clinched victories in their first two games. They triumphed over St. Joseph’s in their season opener on Nov. 30 and replicated that success against Chaminade just three days later.
In the match against the Flyers, five players from the Crusaders reached double figures, with Nigel James setting the pace with 21 points, eight assists, and five rebounds. Adonis Ratliff was outstanding with 16 points, 11 rebounds, ten blocks, and four steals. Hassan Koureissi chipped in with 14 points, four assists, three rebounds, and two steals. Archbishop Stepinac aims to start a winning streak against St. Raymond for Boys on Dec. 9.
The Ravens recorded solid wins over Pace Academy and DeSoto. A remarkable 29-point outburst in the third quarter against DeSoto kept St. Raymond’s record unblemished as they began the 2024-25 season. The Ravens will strive to maintain their perfect record against St. Peter’s on Dec. 8.
Following their loss to Iona Prep, the Kingsman faced another setback against Philadelphia’s Neumann-Goretti. Although Nazareth managed to restrict their opponents to just nine points in the second quarter, the Saints prevailed in overtime with a 17-7 surge. Nonetheless, the Kingsman have managed to stay among the elite New York high school basketball squads.
The Lions concluded the 2023-24 New York high school basketball season with an impressive 22-6 record, finishing second in their league with a 12-3 mark. Christ the King is set to kick off their season against Monsignor Scanlan on Dec. 8.
Following a victory over Adlai Stevenson in their season opener, the Terriers claimed their seventh consecutive home win with a commanding 94-52 defeat of Bishop Loughlin. St. Francis Prep aims for their third win against Christ the King, with On3 Massey Rankings expecting a tightly contested matchup.

Brooklyn College wrapped up their 2023-24 New York high school basketball season with a strong 16-3 record, including a 12-1 record in the PSAL Brooklyn 1 League. They will commence their new season against Wingate on Dec. 10.
After falling to Curtis in their opening game, St. Peter’s rallied back with a 71-53 win over Moore Catholic. Talib Martin shone brightly with a personal best of 23 points, six rebounds, three steals, and three blocks. St. Peters will look to achieve their first winning streak this season against St. Raymond for Boys on Dec. 8.
