Program open to grades three through eight in Paso Robles schools
– A new multi-week youth basketball training program will begin in North County, hosted at the Paso Robles High School practice gym and led by coach and youth advocate Mike Wozniak.
The program, organized by 3Ball Academy, will provide skill development, teamwork, and confidence-building for students in grades three through eight in the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District. Scholarships covering all costs will be available to eligible athletes, funded by a sponsorship from Justin Vineyards & Winery.
“We are proud to support programs which boost youth confidence and leadership through physical activity in our backyard here in North County,” said Molly Scott, senior director of grower and community relations for Justin Winery. “Sports have always played an important role in my life, and it is a great pleasure that we can offer others an opportunity to leverage their ability to succeed.”
“Sports provide a healthy outlet, a safe team environment, and invaluable mentorship,” said Justin Lourenco, program creator for 3Ball. “Our goal is to give kids in the community an additional opportunity to be active, improve their skills, and gain life skills that extend beyond the court. There aren’t many opportunities like this in North County that focus solely on skill development, so we’re thrilled to fill that need.”
3Ball Academy was founded by Wozniak, a Cal Poly Hall of Fame basketball player, national TV and radio color analyst, and record holder for scoring and three-pointers at Cal Poly. The academy has more than two decades of experience training young athletes, focusing on both basketball performance and life skills off the court.
The program is collaborating with Paso Robles High School to provide the training sessions. More information is available online.
