NIL and portal era transforming college coaching…

In the recent past, we’ve seen long-time college coaches like Jim Larranaga, Jay Wright, Tony Bennett, Nick Saban, Leonard Hamilton, Jim harbaugh, and other leave the college game and there will be many more. Today, you saw Mike Gundy, with a successful 21 year track record, get the axe at Oklahoma State, and meanwhile Stoops at Kentucky, Dabo at Clemson, and others who had great success in the pre-NIL/Portal era are really struggling. It’s a completely different game and I think in just a few years, we’ll see a nearly complete coaching turnover. Professional sports has a much greater appeal to coaches now, if they can grab one of those jobs as a head man or assistant. Dealing with players, handlers, agents, lawyers, and greedy families out in the open can’t be pleasant and holding players accountable has never been more difficult.
