Nine Wildcats Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Nine K-State track and field athletes were named to the Academic All-District Team on Tuesday (June 24) as announced by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
Four women– Jourdin Edwards, Safhia Hinds, Taylor Mayo and Tesia Thomas—and five men– Pierson Carlisle, Nate Collier, Tommy Hazen, Emil Uhlin and Tavon Underwood, were named.
This is a consecutive honor for Collier, Hazen and Uhlin, while Uhlin is considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot for a first-, second- or third- team nomination.
Uhlin is majoring in biology with a 4.00 GPA. During the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championship he had a bronze medal finish in the men’s decathlon with his personal best performance of 7,859 points, the no. 4 decathlon score in K-State history, in 3rd place for a First Team All-America honor. After sitting out the indoor season he saw improvement in April with personal bests in the discus throw and shot put and a top-5 performance at the Drake Relays with 7,788 points.
Edwards is majoring in modern languages, Spanish, with a 4.00 GPA. Edwards advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Championship for the first time in her career, finishing 18th in the women’s 400 meter hurdles in 58.16 seconds for All-America Honorable Mention. Edwards saw steady improvement in the 400 hurdles, medaling at the Big 12 Championship in 6th place before recording her personal best of 56.73 seconds at the NCAA West Preliminary.
Hinds is studying integrative human sciences with a 3.60 GPA. A native of Spanish Town, Jamaica, Hinds was the 2025 Big 12 Outdoor Champion in the women’s 400 meter hurdles in 55.90 seconds, the no. 2 fastest time at K-State. She competed in the DI NCAA Outdoor Championship for the first time with a 13th place finish in the 400 hurdles in 57.18 for Second Team honors.
Mayo is majoring in integrative physiology with a 4.00 GPA. After transferring from Kansas this season, Mayo competed primarily in the triple jump, reaching 13 meters for the first time in her career at the Big 12 Indoor Championship where she finished 6th at 13.02m (42′ 8 ¾”).
Thomas is working towards her master’s in business administration with a 3.87 GPA. The graduate transfer from Penn State competed during the indoor season for the Wildcats. At the Big 12 Indoor Championship she medaled in two events, including the triple jump with her best distance of 12.95m (42′ 6″) in 7th place. Her best long jump of 6.32m (20′ 9″) from the Tyson Invitational is the no. 5 jump in the K-State indoor records.
Carlisle is majoring in psychology with a 3.88 GPA. From Gardner, Kan., Carlisle competed in every meet this season in the pole vault. He saw significant improvement during the Ward Haylett Invitational where he cleared his personal best height of 5.21m (17′ 1″), his best by over six inches, now the no. 3 best height in the K-State outdoor records.
Collier graduated this spring with a 3.52 GPA in kinesiology. In his two seasons with the Wildcats, he advanced to the NCAA West Preliminary both times. During the indoor season he reached 17 meters in the shot put for the first time at 17.44m (57′ 2 ¾”). Competing in the discus throw in the outdoor season he had his best throw of the season during the Ward Haylett Invite at 56.25m (184′ 6″).
Hazen graduated in May with a 3.77 GPA in operations and supply chain management. The four-year Wildcat broke the 3,000 meters K-State indoor record in the first meet of the season during the KU-KSU-WSU Triangular with a time of 8:03.77. With his distance medley relay (DMR) team they also set a new record of 9:42.38 at the Big 12 Indoor Championship. He advanced to the NCAA West Preliminary in the 3,000 meter steeplechase for a consecutive year, his fastest time of 8:48.93 from the Oregon Open is the no. 5 time in the school records.
Underwood is majoring in mechanical engineering with a 3.86 GPA. After competing unattached during the indoor season, Underwood ran mainly in the 400 meter dash with his fastest time of 45.75 seconds at the Ward Haylett Invite. He medaled at the Big 12 Championship in 6th place at 46.20 seconds before advancing to the West Preliminary where he finished just shy of qualifying for the semifinal race in 46.29 seconds in 21st place.
To be included on the All-District teams, an undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale, while graduate student-athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA as both an undergraduate and graduate student. On the track, an athlete must have a top-50 regional ranking in an individual event during the indoor or outdoor season.
