COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 18 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team dropped its Big Ten dual at Illinois Friday night at Huff Hall. The Buckeyes finished with an overall score of 195.475 to the Illini’s 196.150.
 
The Buckeyes’ best event of the meet was floor in the third rotation of the meet. The team earned a season-high score of 49.425 to win the event title, its second on the apparatus this season. Tory Vetter won the individual event title with a career-high 9.950 and Rylee Guevara came in second with a career-high mark of 9.925. The Buckeyes also counted a career-high tying 9.875 from JJ Coleman, a season-high 9.850 from Sidney Washington and a 9.825 from Kaitlyn Grimes.
 
Vetter’s mark on floor is the team’s highest score on any apparatus this season. In her first season as a Buckeye, Guevara has now recorded a 9.900 or higher on floor in four of five meets this season.
 
Ohio State also won the vault title, its second of the season, over Illinois with an overall score of 49.200. Vetter, Coleman and Cameron Smith tied for second with 9.850s. Washington and Grimes added 9.825s for the Buckeyes in the rotation. Smith’s mark ties her career high.
 
Vetter added a second event title with a win in the all-around, scoring a combined 39.425 across all four events. The all-around title is her third of the season.
 
The upcoming home schedule for the Buckeyes features a dual against Minnesota (Feb. 16), the Big Four meet against Nebraska, Rutgers and UCLA (March 2) and a quad meet against Kent State, Pitt and West Virginia (March 16). Single meet tickets can be purchased HERE.
