The Rye Indoor Track and Field Team sent their best freshmen and sophomores to Rockland Community College earlier this week on Tuesday, December 10, for a large meet featuring underclassmen from more than 25 other New York State schools. Several Garnets medaled, while others hit personal records (PRs), in an overall successful meet.

Riho Fukudome placed first among all competitors in the 55-meter hurdles race. Other medalists include Icair Garate (2nd place in the triple jump event) and Jillian DeSanto (3rd in both the 55M sprint and 300M relay).

Setting PRs for Rye were Will Morreale (in both the 55M and 300M relays), Blake Broderick (300M relay), and Kai McCulloch (shot put).

The Garnets’ next meet is scheduled for Sunday, December 15, at the Armory Track complex in Washington Heights, New York. It’s another long list of schools competing alongside Rye in what is a full-team meet.
