Douglas Harold Jackson, 70, known lovingly as Doug, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025 at his home in Gering, Nebraska with his loving family at his side.

He graduated from Lingle High School in 1973, where he excelled in wrestling, football, and track. On January 6, 1974, Doug married Cindy Louise Bowsher, the love of his life. Together they built a family centered on dedication, laughter, and loyalty. They made their home in Wheatland, Wyoming, where they raised their two sons, Beau and Jeremy.

Doug devoted 40 years to teaching mathematics and physical education, as well as coaching multiple sports in the Wheatland community. He took great pride in mentoring young athletes, building character, and forming lifelong relationships that extended far beyond the classroom and the field. He is remembered as a steady, caring presence who encouraged countless young people to work hard, believe in themselves, and support one another.

Doug’s coaching career was marked by exceptional success. Among his most memorable achievements were winning the state wrestling championship in 1989 and witnessing Clint Fernandez jump an impressive 23 feet at the East Regionals in 1990—moments he cherished throughout his life.

Doug’s faith was also an important part of his life. His relationship with Jesus brought him comfort and strength, especially as he navigated the heartbreaking loss of his son, Beau.

Family was the heart of Doug’s life. He treasured every moment spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, great granddaughters, nieces, nephews, and countless friends who became family. Jeremy and his wife, Tiffany, blessed Doug with six grandchildren: Jonah (Rylee), Carter, Graham, Kingston Cruz, Bailey, and Shiloh. Jonah and Rylee later welcomed two daughters, Ava and Olivia, Doug’s beloved great granddaughters. Doug found joy in coaching youth sports, sharing stories, and encouraging those around him. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his bike, and lending a hand to anyone who needed help.
