Fresh off winning the freestyle event at the U.S. Cross Country Ski Championships on Thursday, Montana State standout Kate Oldham reached the podium again with a third-place finish in the 20K classic at the University of Alaska Anchorage Invitational on Sunday afternoon at Kincaid Park.The UAA Invitational finishes with the alpine races Feb. 19-21 at Alyeska Ski Resort.
After the Nordic events Denver sits atop the UAA Invite team standings with 341 points. The Pioneers are followed by Utah 334, Colorado 294, UAA 242, UAF 231, and MSU 229.The senior from Carbondale, Colo., covered the 20K course in 59:51.6. Alaska Fairbanks’ Kendall Kramer won the event in 58:17.2.Also, scoring points for the Bobcats were Katey Houser, 13, 1:03:09.1, and Anna Pryce, 17, 1:05:04.4.The Bobcat men were led by Joel Power, who clocked 56:12.5. Denver’s Andreas Kirkeng captured the classic title in 50:47.5.Phineas Fischer and Jack Conde also scored points for MSU finishing 22nd (57:02.1), and 23rd (57:10.3), respectively.
