In collaboration with the Wheels Up program alongside Feeding America, the designated NIL collective of Ole Miss (the Grove Collective) collaborated with a team of student-athletes for a volunteer day. The Brandr Group was also involved in the initiative; backing NIL collective organizations in global outreach efforts to benefit students and their colleges.
The athletes came together at a local food pantry in Oxford, Miss. to deliver food to families and individuals in need. By the conclusion of the day, the student-athletes had a direct positive impact on over 200 families and community members requiring meals.
The Meals Up initiative was launched in 2020 as a response to the global hunger crisis triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. Wheels Up has played a significant role in providing upwards of 90 million meals and focusing on community involvement through the Oxford Food Pantry.
Embracing this positive platform, Ole Miss student-athletes are receiving NIL opportunities that shine a light on their community contributions; discovering various novel ways to give back.
“Since this partnership began, our athletes have felt the uplifting influence of contributing back to the Oxford and Ole Miss community, which lies at the core of our mission at The Grove Collective,” mentioned Walker Jones, Executive Director, The Grove Collective, LLC.
The Ole Miss student-athletes involved in this volunteer day are the official Wheels Up Champion Ambassadors. Their efforts in promoting this campaign come with financial rewards, alongside their engagement in a meaningful cause to support the Ole Miss community.
The Grove Collective collaborates closely with Ole Miss student-athletes to provide robust contracts that safeguard the interests of both athletes and donors. Through the partnership with Wheels Up and the Brandr Group, the Grove Collective has successfully uplifted numerous students. Although this specific initiative was initiated in 2020, the ambassador program is expanding, and will remain active in Oxford for years ahead.
The Oxford Food Pantry is affiliated with the Mississippi Food Network, ensuring the procurement, processing, and distribution of donations to individuals in need. With assistance from Ole Miss students, meals can reach the streets of Mississippi more promptly and frequently. This overall initiative has heightened awareness and underscored the necessity for food resources in communities.
With Wheels Up’s involvement in this partnership, both funding and global recognition are abundant; Wheels Up engages in significant work around the globe.
The Ole Miss student-athletes will persist in their community involvement throughout their college careers; dedicating their efforts to uplift the community on and off the field.
