A season’s worth of Ontario Legend Car Series action came down to a 40-lap Autumn Colours Classic main event on Sunday, October 12th at Peterborough Speedway.

Dawson Drimmie and Mitch Wright came into the last waltz virtually deadlocked in the point standings. Before either racer turned a lap, Drimmie held an eight-point advantage over his championship rival. As teams rolled to the line for the night’s headliner, Wright started third, while Drimmie took the green flag in seventh, on the inside of the fourth row.

Polesitter Jake Spencer-Walt took the early race lead, before Wright moved to the top spot with eight laps on the scoreboard. Drimmie was also marching towards the front of the pack as the field started putting slower traffic a lap down with about 14 circuits complete. Following a pair of mid-race cautions, Wright, Parker Traves and Drimmie were locked in a three-car breakaway at the front.

Another yellow flag – this time for an issue on the frontstretch – brought everyone back together, with the lead trio joined by Adam Cuthbertson and Spencer-Walt for the Lap 28 restart. From there, all eyes were on the title contenders as green flag action kept fans on the edge of their seats waiting for the outcome.

With less than a handful of laps remaining, Drimmie wrestled the runner-up position away from Traves and, although Wright would pose for the victory lane photos after the checkered flag, Drimmie’s second-place finish was enough to claim the 2025 season championship. Traves, Adam Cuthbertson and Spencer-Walt completed the feature race top-five.

Gibson Baker, Matt Boyes, Cole McFadden, Caleb Drimmie and Wes Cuthbertson rounded out the top-10. Keaton Pipe, Greg Rudzik, Rob Eggleton, Landon Herring, Willy Howells, Robbie Sikes, Austin Arnel, Matt Thompson, Nathan Killins, Andrew McFadden, John Milwain, Hailey McNicol, Joshua Milwain, Paul Pierik, Joe Sherman and Mackenzie Milwain wrapped up the feature event finishing order.

Weekend qualifying events were won by Gibson Baker, Matt Boyes, Andrew McFadden, Parker Traves and Dawson Drimmie, with a pair. The group’s inaugural Non-Winner’s shootout was on track when rain began to fall on Friday night and it was not completed.

Teams with the Ontario Legend Car Series and Ontario Bandoleros will join together to celebrate an incredible year of racing with the season-ending banquet on Friday, November 28th at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Peterborough.
