O’Reilly Auto Parts Officially Announced As Title Sponsor For NASCAR Xfinity Series Beginning In 2026
To be fair, I still call it the Busch Series…
What’s now known as the NASCAR Xfinity Series has been around for almost as long as the sport itself, at least in some form. The lower series, just behind the Cup Series, got started as the NASCAR Sportsman Division in 1950 before becoming the Late Model Sportsman Series in 1968.
The modern iteration of the series was officially formed in 1982, with sponsorship from Anheuser-Busch and Budweiser. But in 1984, the series switched from Bud to Busch and became known as the Busch Grand National Series (later just the Busch series), which is still the longest-running title sponsor of the series and the name many fans still call it today.
Busch dropped their sponsorship of the series following the 2007 season, with Nationwide Insurance taking over for a few years. And since 2015, the title sponsorship has been held by Comcast and their Xfinity brand, giving us the NASCAR Xfinity Series (and the annoying line that drivers drop in every post race interview about their car being “as fast as Xfinity Mobile.”)
The series has long been a training ground for younger drivers looking to move up to the NASCAR Cup Series, with recent champions like William Byron, Tyler Reddick and Chase Elliott going on to have their own massive success in Cup cars.
But earlier this year, it was announced that Xfinity would be ending their title sponsorship of the series, though they also extended their partnership with NASCAR to remain a “premier partner” in the Cup Series.
That left a question of what the Xfinity Series would be called next year…but now we have our answer.
O’Reilly Auto Parts has been announced as the new title sponsor of NASCAR’s lower series, signing a multi-year deal that NASCAR says will include promotional opportunities and brand integrations along with the The CW Network, which broadcasts the entire season.
Speaking on the new title sponsor, NASCAR president Steve O’Donnell believes O’Reilly Auto Parts will be a natural fit:
“Like the great sport of NASCAR, O’Reilly Auto Parts was born in America and built on the hard work and drive of passionate people. This new partnership allows us to continue to fuel that passion for the next generation of NASCAR’s stars and fans while celebrating the journey we’ve been on together for decades.”
And O’Reilly Auto Parts President Brent Kirby emphasized their shared values:
“Our company is rooted in the same values that define NASCAR — teamwork, enthusiasm and dedication. You’ll see those in action when our customers walk through our doors. We know they need fast service, and Team O’Reilly will get them the parts they need quickly, with excellent customer service. We welcome all fans to stop by our stores and see how our team can help keep them running.”
Honestly, this seems like a great partnership. NASCAR fans are among the most brand loyal sports fans in the world, so it will obviously be a big boost for O’Reilly. And it seems like there will be a lot off room for cross-promotion between the two brands, and activations for fans like driver appearances, at-track events and activities, and national promotional.
Calling it the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series is definitely going to take some getting used to though. But at least we won’t have to hear “as fast as Xfinity Mobile” in every driver interview now.
