The chances of the OU softball team going undefeated were slim.

Then after Gabbie Garcia popped out, Cydney Sanders drew a walk. The Sooners were retired in order just once — in the sixth.Ailana Agbayani led off the second with a double but was ultimately stranded at second. The Sooners put the first two runners on without the benefit of a hit in the first before Cierra Harrison came back to retire the side.

The teams will play the deciding game of the series beginning at noon Sunday.

Outside of that, Deal mostly held the Tigers in check, giving OU a chance to come from behind.

OU fell to Missouri 3-1 on Saturday at the Mizzou Softball Stadium to snap their NCAA-best 31-game winning streak that stretched back to last season.Missouri made it 3-0 on Taylor Ebbs’ solo homer to left to lead off the third off Kierston Deal. The Tigers added another run later in the first on Stafania Abruscato’s RBI double off Isabella Smith.

But OU’s offense, which came into the game averaging more than 8.7 runs per game, was mostly stagnant. The Sooners fell into a hole quickly on Madison Walker’s solo home run to center with one out the bottom of the first. But it was hard to picture the top-ranked Sooners falling like this.

The Sooners made a push in the seventh, bringing the tying run to the plate.Garcia’s hitting streak came to an end at 14 games as the Sooners finished with just five hits.Nelly McEnroe-Marinas led off the inning with a homer to left on the first pitch she saw.

They had plenty of chances, but couldn’t come up with a big hit until their backs were against the wall. But then Kasidi Pickering struck out swinging and Ella Parker grounded out to hand the Sooners (28-1, 7-1 SEC) their first loss of the season.
