A HISTORIC AND UNFORGETTABLE CELEBRATION: PANAM AQUATICS CHAMPIONSHIPS

It was a party from start to finish. For the first time in history, this water sports event was organized in the continent and the balance is extremely positive.

“It is the biggest aquatic party I have ever seen in the Americas,” said the President of Panam Aquatics, Maureen Croes.

It was a total of 13 days of pure emotion, fellowship and an excellent competitive level. The party of the first Panam Aquatics Championships was lived to the fullest in Medellin, Colombia.

With the presence of more than 1000 athletes from 35 countries, 4 exciting disciplines were disputed: Swimming, Water Polo, Diving, Open Water and Artistic Swimming.

It was a historic competition by any standards, since never before had there been an aquatic festival of this magnitude, and it also represented a qualifying event for major international events such as the ASU Junior Pan American Games 2025, the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore and the Under 18 Water Polo World Championship in 2026.

In terms of results, several countries stood out in this competition.

Mexico had an outstanding performance, taking first place in both diving and open water.

Canada did the same, taking first place in the general classification in Artistic Swimming and in Men’s Water Polo.

Colombia swept first place in swimming, as did the United States in women’s water polo.

The competition in Medellin had more than 5,000 spectators in the stands and thousands of viewers through the Panam Sports Channel, the official channel for the world of the Panam Aquatics Championship.

Numbers plus, numbers minus, the balance is extremely positive and undoubtedly exceeded all the expectations of the organizers.

“I am so proud when I see the amount of people that have gathered here, this surpasses everything I could have dreamed of. I had a vision of doing an aquatic festival, but this is bigger than my dream and I can only hope that the next version will be even bigger. This is the biggest water festival I have ever seen in the Americas. I thank the mayor’s office of the city of Medellin, the Colombian Federation and everyone who made this event possible,” said PanAm Aquatics President Maureen Croes.

The Panam Aquatics Championship Medellin 2025, allowed many athletes to qualify for the ASU2025 Junior Pan American Games.

A total of 90 athletes qualified for the continental youth event in Artistic Swimming, 59 in diving and 28 in open water.

In addition, quotas were granted for the World Aquatics Under 18 World Championship in Water Polo for the following year. USA, Canada, Colombia and Brazil qualified for the planetary event.

Panam Sports was present at this historic event not only with two video teams for social networks, but also with the live and exclusive broadcast of the Panam Sports Channel for the whole world, achieving a large audience throughout the continent.
