Paul Piece Says Black Athletes May Prefer To Date White Women Because They’re More Appreciative, Apologetic, & ‘Don’t Mind Being Held Accountable’

Paul Pierce is sharing his controversial take on why some Black athletes prefer to date white women.

During his guest appearance on the Truth After Dark podcast, the former NBA star was asked why many athletes—namely NBA players—date outside their race. The host bluntly asked:

“Is it because they’re easier?”

In response, Pierce replied:

“I honestly think that maybe they appreciate more and they apologize more….They don’t mind being held accountable.”

The clip has since gone viral, sparking immediate backlash. Critics slammed Pierce for reinforcing what they see as tired stereotypes about Black women being “difficult,” while others defended his right to speak from personal experience. But the conversation quickly evolved into something bigger.

One report noted that a 2022 analysis found just 28.3% of married Black NBA players had Black wives, while 41.7% were with non-Black partners.

But outside the NBA bubble? It’s a different story. Among high-earning Black men (those making $100K+), a whopping 83% are married to Black women. So why the gap?

Some say it comes down to proximity, highlighting that players often spend their formative years in white-majority spaces. Others point to societal messaging that has long devalued Black women while elevating non-Black women in the media and pop culture.

What are your thoughts on the topic? Do you feel there’s some truth to Paul Pierce’s take? ?

As 'Pretty Little Baby' Goes Viral, Connie Francis Is Joining TikTok

With a forgotten song becoming an unlikely hit, the 87-year-old singer is happy to be back in the spotlight.

Sixty-four years ago, Connie Francis recorded “Pretty Little Baby” as one of dozens of songs in a marathon recording session that yielded three albums within two weeks. It did not, at the time, feel like a song that had the makings of a hit, so it landed on the B-side of the 1962 single “I’m Gonna Be Warm This Winter” that was released in Britain. Since then, it was more or less overlooked.

Then came TikTok and its canny ability to resurrect decades-old songs for a new generation.

Over the last few weeks, “Pretty Little Baby” has been trending on the social media app — it has been featured as the sound in more than 600,000 TikTok posts and soared to top spots in Spotify’s Viral 50 global and U.S. lists — bolstered by celebrities and influencers, like Nara Smith, Kylie Jenner, and Kim Kardashian and her daughter North, who have posted videos of themselves lip-syncing to it.

The ABBA singer Agnetha Fältskog used the song for a clip on TikTok in which she said Ms. Francis had long been her favorite singer. And the Broadway actress Gracie Lawrence, who is currently playing Ms. Francis in “Just in Time” — a play about Bobby Darin, Ms. Francis’s onetime romantic partner — also posted a video of herself lip-syncing to it, in her 1960s costume and hair.

The song’s current popularity is an unexpected twist to Ms. Francis’s long and illustrious career. In 1960, she became the first female singer to top the Billboard Hot 100 and, by the time she was 26 years old, she had sold 42 million records and had two more singles top the Billboard charts. But this particular song, which she recorded in seven different languages, remained so obscure that Ms. Francis, 87, told People magazine that she had forgotten ever recording it.

Amid the frenzy of the unexpected attention, Ms. Francis is trying to figure out how to turn this sudden attention into opportunities for herself. She and her publicist, Ron Roberts, enlisted Mr. Roberts’s son to help them set up a TikTok account for her and, in a phone interview on Thursday, she said she had been mulling the idea of emerging from retirement to do some kind of show in the next few months.

This interview has been edited and condensed for clarity.

Top athlete forced to choose between OnlyFans and Olympics after he's suspended from competing

Paddle UK has issued a statement after he made a spicy page in January

Kurts Adams Rozentals, a British canoeist with dreams of competing at the Olympics, has been suspended by governing body Paddle UK after “allegations” surrounding his posts on TikTok and Instagram.

Back in April, Paddle UK kicked Kurts out of its World Class Programme, a fast track to the Olympics, pending a deeper investigation into his online presence. Though the investigation is still being carried out, with specific details yet to be revealed, Kurts Adams Rozentals believes it’s because he’s on OnlyFans.

“I have been posting videos that are consciously made to be edgy in order to drive conversions to my ‘spicy content page’, to fund this ultimate dream of going to the Olympics,” he told BBC Sport after a viral Instagram post.

With 74k followers on Instagram, 39 videos and over 100 photos on OnlyFans, he claims to have pulled in £100,000 since starting his account back in January 2025. When Paddle UK suspended him in April, he recalls freezing as his goals of becoming an Olympian were thrown into the air.

“I kind of froze and I couldn’t believe the words I was hearing because this is what I put my life into this is everything I do,” Kurts, who competes in the individual canoe slalom, added. “My personality at this point, my identity, is sport, and I want to be a professional athlete chasing my Olympic dream.”

Speaking to the BBC, a representative for Paddle UK explained how Kurts Adams Rozentals’ ban was not disciplinary action, but an interim action “designed to protect all parties” and to “safeguard other athletes, staff, and volunteers due to the nature of the allegation.”

“Paddle UK is committed to ensuring a safe and open environment for all, and interim action under the Athlete Disciplinary Policy is only taken where necessary and proportionate,” the governing body added.

Why did Kurts Adams Rozentals start an OnlyFans?

Each athlete on Paddle UK’s World Class Programme receives a grant of £16k to pay for training, equipment, and preparation, so you might be wondering why Kurts Adams Rozental felt the need to start OnlyFans in the first place.

“I don’t know how much you need, but it’s certainly not £16,000,” he explained. “When you have to cover rent, travel, food… and most athletes who train full-time are all living in London. They’re very fortunate to have parental backing – I wasn’t. I never had the ability to move to London because of financial struggles, so I was always doing the travel from the East Midlands, where I live, to London, back-and-forth, back-and-forth.”

When asked what he would do if forced to pick between OnlyFans and the Olympics, he noted how it was the “hardest decision” of his life.

He explained: “I came to the realisation about why I started doing this last winter after years of struggle, years of living on the edge, my mum working 90 hours a week, having bailiffs at the door.

“I’m going to find a way where we don’t have to struggle, where my mum can enjoy her life and I’m able to put everything into this sport because when you’re thinking about how to pay the rent this month and you’re standing at the start line, that’s not very conducive [to performing well].

“It’s a tough decision but unless something changes in the way athletes are paid I don’t see a way of working with Paddle UK.”

Kurts wouldn’t even be the first Olympian to be making huge money on the x-rated platform, with gold medallist Jack Laugher on OnlyFans alongside Noah Williams, Robbie Manson, Alysha Newman, and Luana Alonso.

LeBron James' Heartfelt Message for Liverpool FC Players Goes Viral After Historic PL Title Win

The Los Angeles Lakers, despite boasting LeBron James’s brilliance, fell short in the 2025 postseason. They were eliminated in the first round by the Minnesota Timberwolves (4-1), ending their title hopes prematurely.

James put up stellar numbers, averaging 25.4 points and 9.0 rebounds, but even his efforts couldn’t save the Lakers from an early playoff exit. However, while the dust has settled on the Lakers’ campaign, James is now trending for his connection to another sport entirely.

LeBron James Congratulated the Liverpool FC Team

It has been recently revealed that James shared a heartfelt message with Liverpool FC players after their recent Premier League win.

“I want to say congratulations to the champions, once again bringing home another trophy. You know it is always special to do it with a group of guys that you love. Shout out to the captains, Virgil and Mo, salute to you. Continue to lead, continue to strive for greatness, and always know YNWA. So go, Reds. Love you guys,” was the message from James.

The club clinched their second Premier League crown in stunning fashion on April 27 defeating Tottenham Hotspur (5–1) at Anfield with four matches still left to play. It marked a dominant season for the Reds who put together a memorable campaign that ended in silverware.

Though the title was technically secured weeks earlier, the official crowning moment came on May 25. In front of a roaring Anfield crowd, Liverpool wrapped up their league campaign with a 1–1 draw against Crystal Palace.

Once the match was over everyone on the team received their Premier League medals and celebrated by lifting the trophy for their outstanding teamwork all season.

Following the on-field festivities, Liverpool’s squad gathered for an end-of-season party at the elegant Municipal Hotel in the city center. It was there, during the celebrations, that they were surprised with a video message from none other than James himself.

But what’s the link between an NBA icon and one of England’s biggest soccer clubs?

James has been part of the Liverpool family for over a decade. In April 2011, he purchased a 2% stake in the club for $6.5 million (approximately £4.7 million) alongside his longtime business partner Maverick Carter.

Though his direct share in Liverpool was later converted into a 1% stake in Fenway Sports Group (FSG)—the parent company that owns Liverpool—his passion for the team has never waned.

The King’s basketball season may be over, but his global influence continues to make waves—this time in a sport played with feet, not hands.
