SYRACUSE, N.Y. – A challenging slate awaits the 2025 edition of the Syracuse University field hockey team as the Orange announce their schedule for the upcoming season.

Syracuse finished 13-7 overall last season, reaching the NCAA Tournament for a second-straight season under head coach Lynn Farquhar, who begins her third season at the helm. The Orange have reached the postseason in 15 of the last 16 regularly-scheduled seasons.

This year’s 16 regular-season opponents combined to go 167-134 last fall, a 55.5 winning percentage. Syracuse will tussle with seven teams that made the postseason a year ago, including three conference champions and four opponents that earned at-large berths.

Syracuse will host a pair of exhibition games in late August, warming up with long-time rival UConn (Aug. 16) followed by Vermont (Aug. 22) a week later. Both preseason games will be held at J.S. Coyne Stadium.

The 54th season of Syracuse field hockey officially begins against Lock Haven (Aug. 29) with a quick turnaround against Northeast Conference Champion Fairfield (Aug. 31) two days later.

Making a return to the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, Syracuse heads for Columbus, Ohio with fellow ACC member Virginia to meet with Rutgers (Sept. 5) and Ohio State (Sept. 7) at Buckeye Varsity Field.

Two NCAA Tournament teams continue the road swing as the Orange head for Central New Jersey to take on Princeton (Sept. 12) followed by a clash against Lafayette (Sept. 14) in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania.

The Orange return to J.S. Coyne Stadium for back-to-back ACC games, leading off with Wake Forest (Sept. 19) and Virginia (Sept. 21). The homestand continues the following week against Duke (Sept. 26) before stepping out of league play to face Penn State (Sept. 28), the third Big Ten school the Orange meet this fall. Both Virginia and Duke made the NCAA Tournament last fall with at-large berths.

Bringing a five-game stand at Coyne to a close, Syracuse takes on local foe Colgate (Oct. 3) before the Orange head for the West Coast for their first-ever ACC trip to California. Syracuse opens the trip against Stanford (Oct. 10) before rounding out the weekend at Cal (Oct. 12).

The final home game of the regular season sees NCAA Tournament semifinalist and reigning ACC champion North Carolina (Oct. 17) return to J.S. Coyne Stadium for the first time since the 2023 campaign.

Two one-game weekends conclude the regular season for the Orange, first with a trip to Boston College (Oct. 24) before heading to Louisville (Nov. 1) to close out the regular season.

Louisville will then host the 2025 ACC Field Hockey Championship at Trager Stadium with first-round action set for Nov. 4 with ACC Semifinals the following day (Nov. 5). The ACC Champion will be crowned on Friday, Nov. 7 with the league’s automatic qualifying bid on the line.

The NCAA Tournament begins with first-round action on Nov. 14 and quarterfinals on Nov. 16 on campus sites. Duke will host this year’s NCAA Field Hockey Semifinals (Nov. 21) and NCAA Division I Field Hockey National Championship on Sunday, Nov. 23.

Game times will be announced at a later date on Cuse.com. Dates and opponents are subject to change. Please stay up to date on all things Syracuse Field Hockey on Cuse.com and social media (@CuseFH).

The U.S. roster includes the return of libero Kari Ortiz, competing internationally for the first time since retiring in 2016. Veterans Whitney Dosty, Tia Edwards, Kendra Hall, Kaleo Kanahele Maclay, Nicky Nieves, Emma Schieck and Bethany Zummo round out the group of Paralympians leading the charge in the Netherlands.
